Delain you don't neeed his permission for baptism, my friend had her 3 done recently.... there are very few things you are supposed to ask about.. name change or going out of the country for more than 2 weeks at a time or adoption of course.. is all I think. I am waiting unil dot appears and having the 2 done together.. though I need to be back in touch with the archbishop because the minister is being a kn0b and refusing to do them because KH is a KH and told packs of lies about me.. heped by his troll of a sister.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

What church are you in PP?
Never heard of anything like that here, the church know I'm not especially religious but when I spoke to them about the girls they said they'd love to baptise them, regardless of my faith
Now I know I don't need KH's permission I may just go ahead and arrange it at the church, for all 5 of them once this one is here, and hire the church hall after for an hour or so and make a little party of it. Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession

Hi all, haven't been on in ages but tend to lurk most days. We had Chunky baptised at 3 and a half months - as CL said - very common to be "done" young over here.
RBG - £530 is pretty good! Ours will be just over £600pcm in Ballyclare! Not that I want to go back to work! Lol!0 -

I've not been baptised, but I had the older 8 done when they were very tiny.. I was arguing with them about having Squeak done when I got pregnant with Dot.. OH's mum wanted her to be done this weekend and I said no, I'm sorting it and I will wait and have both done together. We usually have a party after as well.. plus I want them to be done at home so my children can attend.. I don't actually give a hoot about OH's mums friends being there I want my children there!
I should email the guy again actually.. and I have another local church to ring which I thought wasn't used any more. Stupidly most of the churches at home don't do baptisms just ridiculous thanksgivings .. can't really see the point of them myself... but each to their own.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
None of mine have been christened or baptised. I wasn't as a baby and the choice was left up to me and I was baptised when I was 12 as I knew then that I really wanted to be Christian. I've not had any of mine done and have left the choice up to them when they are older.
They're at Catholic school now and the boys considered being christened into the Catholic Church, but I think it was more peer pressure as they didn't want to go to Church regular or anything like that.
Been for a run this morning. First time in two months since I did any exercise, but I managed to run 3½ miles in 39 minutes and we went round the uphill way as well so I was quite pleased with that. Here I go again on my own....0 -

We're not getting TJ 'done' at all. I had thought of a naming ceremony as neither hubby or I are religious at all but he's 4.5 months old now and everyone knows his name lol....
Nephthys there are a couple on the Lisburn Road i checked out and they were looking nearly £800 pcm ....i don't want to go back to work either especially not to pay childcare and bills and have nothing left over for me :SThe pod landed and produced baby Timothy on 10th March 20110 -
Hello, I wondered if one or more of you ladies would be able to help me at all? :hello:
I buy presents for the children of two of my relatives and we always get invited to parties for them, but I never get a thank you for the gifts. Not when I'm there or afterwards. Now I thought that was rude enough...
But today, I went to one such party and as the child opened our present the mum said 'oh just what we need, another one of those' (in a sarcastic tone). I don't think she knew who had bought it but it was obviously from someone there so I thought it was really rude and I felt a bit put out to be honest. I think she meant they already had a lot of stuff of that particular film - not the actual item, otherwise I would be happy to get it exchanged - because it was ripped out of the cardboard as quick as a flash!
I always try to think of nice/thoughtful presents for my relatives' children and on this occasion spent £10 including card and pressie. I know it's not the children's fault their parents have no manners and never say thank you (which is why I'll continue buying them something) but do you think it's reasonable to spend less than that? Say a fiver, or even less if I see a bargain?
Just for your info, I don't have children myself. I've bought for friends' children and always get a little thank you note or a photo, which is lovely.
I hope I don't come across as a miser.
Would like to hear any opinions on the subject, thanks in advance.

hiya there i have 8 neices and nephews (will be 9 just after christmas) my OH has 7 neices and nephews, we give them each a £10 for their birthdays in a card, not very inventive i know.
At christmas i love to shop so buy presents and try to get a nice thoughtful gift for each of them for under a tenner, but the older ones i just give money to.
If we dont see them on their birthdays/christmas they will ring or text to say thank you, or from the parents like yourself we will get a photo with whatever they have bought with the cash they got, or at the very least a kiss and a thank you next time we see them.
As none of us expect gifts for our children (in my family anyway) its just really important to us that we let giver know its appreciated.
sorry turned in to a waffle lol i hope i make sense
To summerise if i didnt get a thank you at all even the next time i seen them i would be !!!!!! off0 -
Thanks lozzy, yes that made sense thanks!

Blimey, you have a big family!
Oh I'm glad it's not just me who'd be peed off with not being thanked!
The children in question are five and under so thought it would be nice to give a present for them to open and play with. And I always try to get something that I think they'd like, e.g. something from a kids tv show/film they like to watch.
BTW, still waiting for thank yous for the wedding presents we bought them from both sets of parents!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: Think hell will freeze over first.;)0 -
lol i am one of seven so i`m expecting a few more neices and nephews
For my OH there is only him and his brother, his brother and his wife have 7 kids i was shocked at first because i just thought it was people from the olden days and my own mother that was crazy enough to do it but guess not lol
Lily some people are just plain rude its a shame its rubbing off on their children too, mannors at the end of the day are free0
