Also you may want to read the no cry nap solution as gives you ideas for nap resisters/going from sleeping in arms nappers etc - I am re reading this now, borrowed from Rach
Aless when did you start a napping routine?? DS is 9 months and I am trying, he usually (apart from today) has naps about 9,12 and 3 but only short - think want to extend them too but not sure how?
Becles I love those Roman forts but also how obsessed they are with the latrines!
I feel like DD has slept a lot today - is that normal for a 4 month old to suddenly sleep more during the day? She's getting very very clingy too. I used to be able to get on with things while she watched me but lately she just wants to be held or she'll cry like she's in pain but I don't think she is in pain, unless she's teething? It's all so confusing I just don't know what I'm doing.
I'm finding everything seems to change all the time. Like her feeding - before the last few days she'd want a feed nearly every 1 - 1.5 hours after 6pm till about 9:30/10. Now tonight, she had a feed at 5pm (a nice long one), then a quick one at 7:45pm and I've put her to bed. If she does the same as the last 3 nights she won't wake till about 2am. Now I've got that written down she'll do something completely different tonight nowI swear everytime I tell someone how great she is at sleeping through, that evening she'll wake up twice in the early hours!
Does anyone else suffer from cuts from their LO's nails? I've got a gash on my face, some on my arms and as for the boobs .....Baby Giz born 6/2/110 -

I bite the nails on the hand away from me while feeding

Make-it-3 - I was thinking of getting a sling anyway o sounds like it would also be helpful for in the house. I am just worried about making her too clingy but i guess she is still little.
Also Poppy is quite scatchy at the moment, keep trying to use a baby nail file but she just scrunches her hands up.0 -

Put your thumb in her hand so it can't close as far into a fist.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I get scratched too, currently he likes grabbing my lip so the inside of my mouth is rather vulnerable!
We seem to be joining the early waking clubhe was consistently sleeping through til 7, then it has crept earlier, this morning was 5.30am! I didn't go into him until after 6 as I just feel he'll wake earlier and earlier then, he wasn't crying just babbling in his cot, i didn't even hear it i think i'm trained to hear cries only now but dh did.
speaking of dh i'm thoroughly hacked off AGAIN. L cried about 12.30 for about 5 minutes, dh was moaning about it, he seems to think he should be a robot, and then this morning was moaning because he was waking early. He'd said he'd get up today but guess who is up and who is still in bed?! He says it's because I'm bf but that's rubbish, i could feed L in bed and then dh could get up and play with him. Then he moaned (as i predicted) because he ended up looking after L for under an hour and a half at short notice yesterday as I went out for a coffee with Sir M who was having a tough day. This was my first baby free coffee like that in almost 9 months...clearly i'm asking too much!
Sorry for the rant, just think I must have mug written on my forehead.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -

don't worry about the sleeping on you thing, and not settling in the basket in the day. I wasted loads of time and energy worrying about it, and in his own time he started napping in the basket and then the cot, and now I'd love him to snuggle up and sleep on me sometimes.Mum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Don't be sorry rach. I think we all feel taken for granted at times and it's good to get it out.
It's the school summer fayre this afternoon. I got woken up by an excited Charlotte jumping on me at 7.30am to remind me it was on
She's just asked me "do I look smashing Mam?" :rotfl:
Just pottering around at home this morning, then taking them all to the fayre this afternoon.
Have a good day all xxHere I go again on my own....0 -
thanks becles, enjoy the fayre - hope it stays dry!
keep meaning to ask, are you self employed?
well dh got up as i was doing L's breakfast and said he'd thought i was bringing him into the bed for a play. he did then get him dressed and we now have him down for a nap, the babbling has quietened down now so hopefully he'll have one. Hoping to go to church later dpending on when he wakes, i'll scoot up to the inlaws in a minute for the car, quicker than the bus today i thinkMum to gorgeous baby boy born Sept 2010:j0 -
Rach - are the crutch style holders really bad? I have one
But it was only £7.50 as I didn't want to spend loads of money if we didn't use it. So far we've used it twice (at carboots), so really don't think I can't justify anything expensive.
I put lots of stuff on ebay and one got taken off this morning because you're not allowed to sell radley items that can't be bought on their own. I don't want to bin it, but I use my radley bags within a inch of their life so never suitable to sell on. Perhaps I should sell my falling apart radley bag with the coverBaby Giz born 6/2/110 -
Nails - I keep his pretty chopped down otherwise I get pinched with sharp claws while he's feeding.
Naps - by that age Finn was taking 2 1.5-2hr naps. He's always been an early riser, so 1st nap was around 9am, 2nd nap between 1-2pm, bed at 6:45pm. I think a lot of parents don't put their babies down early enough in the evening so this cause more sleeping problems during other parts of the day. It's worth a try to see if it improves napping...I would think that the reason he's taking short naps is because there's too many...move his bedtime up a bit and only put down for 2 naps. It's all about tweaking the routine until you find something that works!!
I'm about to be all aloneeeeeeeeeeee for 3 whole days :P. DH is going on a training course in Bradford...he leaves in a couple hours and not home until Wednesday night! Not that big a deal, but I'll miss my extra half hour lie-in in the mornings when he usually gets up with Finn first.
