  • Hi Tinkwings! Nice to see you.

I'd say stick with doing what you are doing DK. Weight is only one indicator of how bubs is doing, but it seems like the HV act like it is the only one.

    Hiya newbies!!

I've also read that Calpol before/after vaccines should be avoided if possible, but I'm a bit of a hippy when it comes to that and try to very very rarely give any sort of medicine. Not sure how true it is, but I read a few articles about it causing asthma and stuff so that's put me right off giving it more than a handful of times since Finn was born. :o *runs and hides*

Becles, I really hope the appeal goes your way. I can't believe they would allow bad marks for noise disruption!

I'm another one for not worrying about baby's weight. We had Finn weighed exactly twice since he was born and never gave it another thought! :)

    evening all x

hello tinks glad you're starting to feel better x

Went to baby clinic today and bobby is now 11lb 7. He seems to follow either the 25th or 75th centile because they adjust it backwards. I thought I'd mention his being a bit sicky the the HV practically accused me of force feeding him too much - surely if that was the case he would be gaining weight more rapidly than following his line nicely?! As it is at the end of a fed he still behaves as though he is hungry but is bringing up milk so I have to give him his dummy instead. She did sign my SSMG form though so that is all sent off now.

I would love to eventually meet a few other dads and mums as we're very isolated from other new parents at the moment. My partner is starting to go to baby massage days and play days which is great but they're all in the day and i cant get involved as im in work :(

    Nice to meet you :)

Have you got a Sure Start centre nearby? Ours does stuff for Dad's on Saturday mornings. Dad gets a cuppa and a bacon butty and there's an activity for the children.

I can't abide all this stressing about babies' weight. The average (mean) weight means that half of all babies will be smaller and half will be bigger. It isn't the ideal weight...

If your babies are happy, healthy, feed and sleep well and produce lots of poopy and wet nappies then all is more than likely well.

Just quoting this as it's fantastic advice and worth listening to ;)

Ah right.....I vaguely remember reading you posting this now!

Did they say how long the appeal would take?

I was thinking about you (in a non-weird stalker type way) Because I have been wondering when to jump back into studying myself, and was thinking, you have never really mentioned if you are going to 'use' your degree...career wise I mean...have you any plans to?

They said a few weeks for the appeal so it's just a matter of waiting.

No idea what to do with the degree. I don't want a career just yet while Charlotte is still little as I like being there to pick her up from school and want to go to assemblies and stuff. Probably do something career-y with it when she's older and not as reliant on me.

I really want another baby and to do more study, but it's not an option :(

    Hi

    Can I join you please???

Lily is now nearly 7 weeks old and I now feel a bit more with it :o

    X

    Of course you can!

Charlotte is nearly 4 and I don't feel with it yet :rotfl:

I think I would get a 2.2 with the current marks, but if they give me credit for the noise and a better mark, I'd get a 2.1. With degree snobs, a 2.1 is much better than a 2.2, even though in my case there's only a few marks in it!
Here I go again on my own....

Hi Bufger and Tinkwings - I remember you both from the pg thread, I was just leaving as you both joined the main one I think! Congrats on your new arrivals. It's pretty quiet here now so you might find it surprisingly easy to keep up!

Beccles - that sucks about your result, I hope they sort it out for you.

  • Hello and welcome to everyone.

Booo to exam grading people who don't give credit for bad exam conditions and HV's that like to worry dinky baby mummies.

I had the opposite problem Katie gained quite quickly, at one weigh in they asked me how much she had at a feed, my response haven't a clue she's breast fed, HV wanted off muttering not much we can do then.

Katie was very funny this morning, mum asked her where she wanted to go for her tea tomorrow night, her reply Pizza Hut! Unfortunately that wasn't an option so she chose her uncles instead where she gets ice cream for her pudding.
Proud to be dealing with my debts
