    Congrats EA.

Sorry to hear about all the sleep problems, trust me I have been there when t was younger - me and DH exasperated as come 10/11/12 he just wouldn't go to sleep and would be up till 1 or later, then up for a feed every hour. I only survived by sleeping in with him. Good advice Merfe, is there anywhere she will sleep - pram/chair/swing? We ended up putting t in a rocking chair to get to sleep in the end then either stayed down with him or tried to move him. I know it is a cliche but it does get easier if you put in a rough routine so they know after bath/bottle it is bed time. T now (generally) sleeps from 7:30 till 6/7 but does have the odd nights where he wakes at the end of the day he isn't a robot! Someone mentioned books, I think I was getting obsessed re what naps/sleep they should have but now I go with what works for us as seems easier.

Another big fan of blw, can I ask MV why you are thinking of weaning already if Josh is sleeping ok? Especially if you are bf, blw is a natural progression for most - although I do know doesn't work for all.

Wendz - its easy to feel its something you are doing wrong, but its just how they are. It is tiring and relentless and doesn't help when people say it will pass - but honestly - it will. It helped me a lot when I read somewhere that you should treat the first 3 months like a fourth trimester when they need the same constant security they had in the womb. By providing that now you give them the confidence that will allow them to take the steps to be more independent of you.

wendz, the first few weeks are such a shock to the system for all. You will get there. I think most of us have had that 'he/she won't settle apart from on me' feeling, but tbh I have to think very hard to remember all those nights I sat propped up in bed with him trying not to nod off, or when I was still in pjs when dh got home from work. If i had my time again I'd put my feet up and cuddle him more and worry less about making a rod for my own back or about getting into routine. that all comes with time!

Another baby led weaning fan here too, have completely converted my dh who was very unsure! Each to their own of course and there's nothing wrong with however you choose to do it, i've just found it fun and easy and he loves sharing meals with us! In fact today my ds and sir monster's ds shared a kiwi fruit, so sweet!

$hitty parent confession... Squeak has a minor minor burn to the palm of her hand.. she nicked a hot chicken dipper off my plate yesterday.. she cried and dropped it and I being crap never thought anything of it.. until i noticed it was red and wrinkly and shiny today...

Confession is supposedly good for the soul but I feel like $h!t... OH said there's nothing there and told me off for being silly.. but there is :(

She enjoyed her meatballs tonight though.. spaghetti not so much

The horrible damp girly room has set Tiddles and Moomin off with a cough.. it makes me wheeze just going in there and I can't do anything about it at the moment.. though I need to get it emptied or at least start clearing space to empty to to so it can be decorated.

I am fed up of having so much to get done in the house and it making me very skint.

    Morning

Sorry to hear about the sleep problems. It is hard at first.

I remember Charlotte had had a few bad nights as a newborn and I was a frazzled mess. I managed to get her to sleep one morning and the boys were at school, so I went to bed as well. I'd only just got to sleep, when my Mam arrived, walked in and shouted "hellooooooooo" at the top of her voice and woke me up. I don't usually lose my temper with my Mam, but I did that day :o

I know how you feel pigpen. Charlotte is in the tiny bedroom and James is in a double bedroom. He's getting a bit big for playing with toys on the bedroom floor, so I want to swap the two rooms so she has more room to play. James needs a new mattress as well as his is saggy and the springs are starting to work their way out :o Just can't afford it and every time I think I might have enough to start, something happens like that utility bill I got on Monday. Could really do with just winning a few hundred on the lottery or something and getting it all sorted.

Lashing down with rain here, so I'm pleased I'm working from home today and don't have to go out in it! Got plenty of typing and uni work to keep me busy.

Have a good day all xx
Here I go again on my own....

Thanks so much everyone for the kind words and reassurance.

Last night wasn't great again. I was up till about 2am with her as she just wouldn't sleep, then OH took over for a few hours so i did get some sleep so feel a bit better. She wouldn't sleep in basket though so he had her next to him or on his chest trying to get her to sleep most the night.

Unfortunately she seems to have taken a bit of a dislike to her pram/travel system and i can't get her to sleep in it now. She will only sleep in her swing if she is asleep before being put in it.

I get matresses friom ebay, and when I got DD1's old bed from the BHF shop (for £80!) it came with an orthopaedic matress. I was stunned I had thought the £80 was just for the frame. lol. I'm sure the people in the shop hadn't realised how much the matress was actually worth or they'd have sold it on it's own.

The twins matresses are only really cheap ones, but they were both bedwetters at the time and one still is. They were 30 quid ebay jobs, better than £80 for the same thing at a bed shop.

Christ knows what we are going to do about sleeping arrangements. I'm very reluctant to put DD1 in with the twins, as she has her own space atm and has had enough trauma in her life already, she'd love to be in with Squeak I know or have Squeak in her room but I don't think it's appropriate because she'd try and 'mother' her too much IYSWIM and I don't want to take her childhood away from her. Plus her room is only 7ft by 8ft, hard enough to fit one child in there never mind two!

We are just going to have to look for somewhere with a 4 bed, but we can't get any help with the rent on a 4 bed until the new addition is born, and the rents for 4 beds here are pretty much OH's whole salary and sometimes more :( so finding somewhere that accepts HB top ups and cats is going to be a nightmare. I can see us ending up somewhere really scuzzy.

OH still dead set on moving to Cornwall, can't make him see that here if I suddenly realise I can't move my leg again, I can ring all 3 nans, and my friends if necessary to collect the kids. If we're in Cornwall I'd be screwed  but that doesn't seem to be sinking in, or the fact that my life is here. I don't make friends easily and really can't face starting over somewhere else. Not to mention that the children would miss all their extended family :(

Oh and don't be upset about Squek burning herself. She might think twice before she robs your food again ;)

Soory everyone is having such rubbish sleep. We did last night too, think Squeak has earache, she woke me up four times, which is most unlike her, so I feel your pain.

We have 5 bedrooms and Squeak will have to go in with the girls until at least 1 moves out! lol.. DD1 is at uni next year and is on about moving into a student house nearby.. that might be interesting! If the baby is a boy he would get DD1's room and Squeak would still be in with the girls.. I am NOT moving.. mainly because it pi$$es KH off that I am still in the house but also becaue I find it incredibly stressful and I don't see why I should rent for twice the price of the mortgage and have no security about how long we stay etc.

There is a lovely 4 bed up the road from me.. Delain? .. lol.. £600 a month and we have room for your 3 in the riot bus so could do school runs en masse! ... not quite Cornwall though :p

This baby is a nightmare she is eating every scrap of crap off the floor... I can't even see half of it she just appears with fluff or foil or plastic or a hair bobble in her mouth! My others never put stuff in their mouth.. what is wrong with this child!

Sir M I'm not planning on weaning Josh until he's around 6 months, I just went along to the weaning talk to get some more info/ask a few questions etc.

Josh is super gripey at the moment, yesterday was awful. He had his last set of jabs done too so that coupled with him being really miserable already, he was a nightmare.

He's in a habit now that when he's tired, unless i rock him constantly he wont go to sleep and screams his head off if I stop rocking.

I've been feeling a bit down the last couple of days too. Had an email from my boss re going back part time/hours etc, and as expected they have said no to what I have requested, and what they have offered doesn't help me much. I don't know if I am going to be able to afford to go back to work now..all very depressing and scary.

Going to meet a friend for lunch..cabin fever is setting in!

Hope everyone has a good day.
