Another bad night sleep here. Managed to get her off to sleep about 11 which was an achievement. She then woke up at half one for a while and then after about 3 just wouldn't settle down. Everytime i put her in moses basket she would start figeting and making noises.
She has only just gone off to sleep now after we got up very late but doubt will last. I don't understand why she won't sleep. I have no time to eat or shower or anything and is starting to stress me out.
Rach - sorry to hear about your sleeping problems too, really feel for you.0 -
Thanks for that site Jennynoo, it's helpful. I am really trying to try gentle approaches and have read all the no cry books and others several times over. we do cosleep sometimes but dh is really not comfortable with it, in fact from 5am today was the only time we've coslept with him in the bed too. ds is so much happier and better on a flexible routine, they're all different i guess.
We had an awful night. slept 7-11 and then up every hour or so i think...lost track lol. He has a cold and i think his teeth are bothering him though he did have calpol at bed time and again in the night. of course when he came into our bed he was suddenly fine and trying to grab us both, roll around and say dada and nana etc.
All the books i read etc are all about babies not settling to sleep at bedtime. We have no problems with this, bedtime routine and then he goes off without a peep about 7 usually. it's in the night we have problems when he will feed and then not resettle. He's not his happy self this morning, not surprising as he missed his morning nap despite me walking round for 40 mins in the pushchair before our singing group to encourage it!
i have a meeting at 1230 for my self employed work, hope i can blag it as i'm woefully underprepared. we'll be having a walk and then a coffee just hope ds sleeps. Need to give him an early lunch and then set off about 1145 i think as i don't want to be late.
Hope your meeting went ok. I just wanted to say about calpol, although you probably already know, ibuprofen baby solution is better at night because it lasts 6 hours whereas paracetamol baby solution only lasts 4.Mum to DD born Oct 2009

Pah to Monday all round!
I'm going to a 'weaning workshop' this afternoon with some of my NCT lot. Hoping it will inspire me a bit as I think Josh is nearing being ready to have something other than milk. I have no clue how to start/what to give him though.

Baby Lead Weaning is the way forward in my option (although that doesn't mean you can't mix things up a bit). Here's the link for BLW in case you don't have it, dos and don'ts are near the bottom.
Dustystar, we had a tummytub which Erin loved but then she has always loved water - it is getting her out that is the problem. About the cough - have LO in the bathroom when you are in the shower etc. but if the cough continues for another week I would go back to the doctors as it's so easy for them to get a chest infection at that age. Especially go if LO coughs so much they vomit. That was always a sign that Erin had a chest infection.Mum to DD born Oct 2009

Does anyone know if you can make a baby pasta dish and freeze it with the pasta cooked and mixed in, or do you have to freeze the sauce and cook the pasta fresh each time?0

Thanks PP. I would also freeze lasagne for us, but just wanting a second opinion. Just made a lovely batch of pasta sauce from a recipe in the Annabel Karmel book (someone bought us the book as a gift). Had a test run with the baby and she loved it. Also thanks PP for the tip about bashing pasta with a rolling pin to make baby sized pasta. Worked a treat.0

Get yourself some easy finger foods. I lived off cheerios for breakfast and had them for snacks (without milk). It just meant I could have the carton next to me and just eat them whenever I had 5 seconds spare or while I was feeding. I know it's probably not that healthy but it's better than eating nothing. I'd also stock up on drinks and have about 3 pints of squash made up on coffee tableSilly things like that but it's easy to just not drink enough and eat enough during the day. I also had a fruit bowl within reach - grapes were a godsend.

Thanks Gizmodo. She slept a bit today but still wouldn't settle for long in her basket. I did manage to make and eat my dinner while she was asleep which was good!
OH has said he will help out tonight as he isn't working till late tomorrow. Only problem is he doesn't wake up but will wake him if she won't settle.
Keep telling myself it will get easier...i hope so!0 -

Thanks Jenny. I took him back to docs this morning. He was struggling to swallow last nite and so I think he's hurt his throat from so much coughing. Doc gave us some antib's for him so we'll see how he goes. It's horrible at nite, we keep each other awake coughing (I have it too) that, added with his 2am wide awake time means neither of us are getting much sleep. Although he slept for 5 hours once we got back from docs. I'm praying things are better tonight. I so wish OH didn't work nites sometimes. It's so hard trying to cope 24/70 -

It will get easier, do you have a proper pram at all and does she settle better in that. My daughter absolutely refused to sleep in the moses basket - she might have done half hour to 1 hour stretches in it but slept really well in the pram so eventually we left her asleep in it in the lounge (it was a 1 bed house and all open plan so could still hear her) but there is no reason why you can't take the carry cot upstairs. There were nights when Bob was little and he was asleep in the pram in the lounge and either I or OH stayed on the sofa so we didn't have to move him.0
