I'm taking Josh for his first vaccinations this afternoon, and dreading it.
Do they make babies feel poorly generally?
Squeak was fine after all of hers, cried when they did it but as soon a she had her trousers up and a hug she was back to her usual chirpy self.
She's my 4th and I still hated it though, especially since their little faces light up when you lift them up
It's better than no jabs though and it's all over in a mo.
I found it was the MMR at 12months that made my older ones poorly, in fact I had an MMR booster 2 days after I had Squeak and I felt horrible for days so I know it isn't nice!Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Thanks delain. I know they have to be done, it's just as you say their faces lighting up and then crumbling
I had to have the MMR jab myself week before last as I didn't have rubella antibodies apparently (which only came to light during my pregnancy). I have felt ok, but I guess for little one's it's more severe.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
I've been using my 3 washable nappies over the past few days and so far so good. No leaks, no poo explosions. I also got 7 more which I've been washing for the absorbancy.
2 totsbots stretchies, 2 more bumgenius (velcro), 1 totsbots easyfit, 1 more flip, and a wonderoo (was cheap).
I used fleece liners too but I'm not sure what to do with the poo - it's really runny so trying to flush it down the toilet didn't work. So I ended up just putting it in the wash as it was. Is that OK?
How many times should I prewash the totsbots? I've done them 3 so far.
3 should be fine for the prewashes - they don't quite reach maximum capacity until 8-10 washes but 3 is plenty to get you started. Just keep an eye on bubs and change a bit early if you need to.
I've only used fleece liners on a weaned baby but sometimes we get horrid squishy poo - I ping off as much as I can into the loo then hold the fleece under the flush. If there's anything left on it (there often is) it goes straight into the nappy bin and into the washer. I run a rinse, then a wash, then an extra rinse and I've not got any staining on my nappies at all. I usually wash at 40 and on 60 once a week and when I know there are a couple of particularly nasty nappies in the bin.
hope that helps0 -

I'm sure Josh will be fine, and the next big smile will be extra rewarding
I'm just watching a cats protection ad and it's made me cross.
It's asking for money then complaining about the lack of homes for cats, when you basically have to be a homeowner living alone with a degree in animal heath before they let you rehome one... hmph.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

I'm not sure what the theory is behind the snack table. They can just help themselves when they like, but Charlotte helps herself too much!
They're supposed to get a carton of milk and a piece of fruit or raw veg under the healthy eating thingy. I wouldn't mind if she just had that. It's the constant picking that I disagree with. I'll try and catch someone and have a word.
I had varied results after injections MV. Make sure you have some Calpol handy so if he does seem hot or unwell, you've got something to help. Here I go again on my own....0 -
DS3 was incredily ill after his jabs and hospitalised.. he didn't feed or sleep or anything he lay there all flat and floppy.. it was horrible.. noone has had any since.. and nor will they have.. esp. now I have actually researched what is in them  he was grossly swollen from his little skinny knee to halfway up his back.. I've never seen anything so horrible in my life. He had a massive reaction because they completely overwhelmed his immune system so it shut down entirely.
They don't HAVE to have them and it is a matter of opinion whether they are better than allowing the immune system to develop normally and create its own antibodies. statistically vax aren't hugey effective either.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Yesyesyes. It makes me SO CROSS.:mad::mad: I understand where they're coming from, but the big charities are SO picky when it comes to rehoming. We had to practically BEG to get our last cat, in the end it was only because she was a million years old and slept most of the day (omg, imagine! You don't have a garden?! You WORK all day?! THE HORROR!) We learned our lesson after that and if you go the local shelters, they're far more appreciative and less picky about adopting pets.
Sorry for the rant, it's a major bugbear with me.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

I can understand charities being wary. I'm currently trying to put Charlotte's friend's mother off getting a dog. The daughter is pestering for a dog, but she has a 6 month old baby and her husband works away a lot. She said she wants a dog that doesn't need to be walked as she doesn't like walking, doesn't need much time spent on it, and she nearly vomited when I said picking up poo was the worst bit about having dogs.
However, I looked into rescue border collies, and was told I couldn't have one as we've got small children in the house. I agree a collie in a family who's never had a collie before could be a nightmare, but they should assess people on their individual dog handling skills rather than make a blanket ban.

Exactly. All dog rescues we've looked into won't even consider you with any children in the house under 5. Umm, how are children supposed to grow up and learn how behave around animals? We had animals around since I was a baby, and there was never even a hint of a problem. I think it's a UK-thing, because you'd never find this in America.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

Hi MV. My LO is going for her 3rd set of jabs on Monday. With the first 2 sets she screamed for 30 seconds, then slept nearly immediately for 4 hours. She woke up in great form and went to sleep as normal that night.0
