I'm still here if I count as a new mummy still.

I feel a bit bad posting sometimes as it's all me me me when I post, but I feel like I have so little time between DD crying and trying to post!

I should be taking this opportunity to sort out house insurance...but couldn't resist a quick read on MSE.

DD is 4.5 weeks old. OH went back to work today so had my first day alone. It's quite hard as before OH would be soothing DD while I got a few things done. But now I've had to just not get things done today while trying to sooth her on my own. I got a little teary earlier as I changed, fed, burped and cuddled her and nothing would stop her crying :( Then she stopped crying when I cried! Crazy.

I breastfed for the first time out and about. Tuesday night I saw Boyzone at the O2 and had to BF standing up in the baby change room/disabled loo :( And after an annoyed disabled person banged on the door too many times I had to delatch and leave the room. It's pants that the only disabled toilet and only baby changing room is the same room. OH then went in hunt to see if there was anywhere else for me to feed and he found a lovely member of staff of the VIP lounge and she found me a quiet corner behind a wall.

Then yesterday we went to Reading for the day and i have to say I'm quite impressed with the facilities. I fed in the BF room in the Oracle and also in John Lewis' parent room.

I got some cheap vests from Primark (£1.50 each - bargain) to wear under my t-shirts so I can pull them down so I don't expose my stretch marked jelly belly to the world.

@MI3 - sorry bubs is not putting on weight. Can you maybe express some to bottle feed?

Have any of the new mums been to any mum and baby groups yet? I've got one being run for 4 weeks, but it's first come first serve and booking starts Monday. I'm going to try and join, but I have to admit I'm very nervous at the thought of going. I'd like to go to some of the other Sure Start groups to. From what I can tell they are free, so I've not got any excuse not to go really.

Tomorrow I have my transvaginal ultrasound to make sure all the placenta has gone. The bleeding has almost stopped now so I hope that the op was a success.

See...me me me :o really must do house insurance now before DD wakes up.

Evening all! Sorry I've been incommunicado the past couple days - my DH was in a car accident on Tuesday night so it's been a bit of a mad couple of days here. He's fine, but the car is a total write-off, so we have to figure out how to sort a new one ASAP and figure out how to juggle the already-severely-juggled finances to make it all work :o.

Hope mummies & babies are well.

Can't remember who was asking about slings - we use them still at 14 months. I have a fleece-lined mei tei which I take him to & from the CMs in (since I can put it on/off quickly). I also have a Calin Bleu wrap sling which is gauze-y and lightweight for summer. I also used a ring sling when he was younger for quick trips (like going in & out of the car or something). Wearing them around the house when they are tiny is FAB, as they tend to just sleep and your hands are free for doing stuff. It's supposed to be calming for fractious babies, as well. I love slings!!

would like to win a holiday, please!!

Giz.. don't feel bad about poting about yourself.. my goodness I could fill pages of my me ramblings.. Today .. for example...

my 7 month old has whinged ALL week.. seriously, she has been a winnie! I am tired and starving.. constantly and have about as much energy as a cat on a sunny day, I live in a skip. OH is having a strop because I keep falling asleep on the sofa.. it is my effing sofa and I'll sleep on it if I want.. and WHY does he try to reason with the baby???, she has learned blowing raspberries is fun.. but even more fun when daddy has just shovelled a spade full of food in your mouth.. speckled daddy!! The guy didn't turn up to fix the bay roof.. ooh look I am surprised.. NOT.. and neither of the guys I asked about a quote for the guttering has got back to me. The cats need more flea stuff, the bunnies need their jabs and I still haven't got a light for the fish. DS1 is still living here.. with no income. DD1 is a mug and can't see it, DS2 is being aggressive and vile, DD2 needs a foot up her bum, DS3 is quiet.. for once.. he got a new Xbox game for his birthday last Friday so has been quiet this week :D, DD3 is an absolute cow and a half.. if she wasn't mine I'd hate her.. but that is a long story.. and she is rude and ignorant and bit of a bt!ch in truth. DD4 is emulating DD3 and being cheeky which is totally out of character and DD5 thinks that because KH (their dad) lets her do as she likes I will too.. erm.. no chance!! And then we have DGS 3 nights a week and he is a total pita.. he is really loud but he whines constantly for no reason at all.

My mother owes me loadsa quids and hasn't given me a bean since November, 2 of my sisters still owe me for mothers xmas present.. £45 each.. gggrrrr

And to top it all we are supposed to be spending the weekend at OH mums and I loathe going.. I find it incredibly boring and stressful.. the baby hates it, their dog barks constantly so I could boot it (I'm not a fan of dogs at all) and I hate the 2 hour drive each way.. and feeling I have to be nice when I know they just think I am a scrote!.

And I have a pile of 'babied' toast on the carpet.. :p

Oh.. the lock on the front door is broken too.. and I have 5 huge basket of washing a kitchen full of pots and the rabbits need cleaning out.. and the loo in the bathroom has been blocked since December.

But yeah.. all in.. I'm good. ta... it is bed time for rug rats!

See.... and that barely scratched the surface of my day..

oh.. and the baby just pooped out of the nappy into her vest, tights and jumperoo

    @pigpen - lol - I honestly don't know how you do it.

I have 2 neglected bunnies and fish. I feel so bad because one got ill on my due date and is still ill now, and I've not been able to give her the attention she needs. I haven't been able to let them out as much as they require watching when they are loose - mainly because of the annoying cats in our area. I caught one inside the rabbit run the other day because I'd turned my back for 5 minutes. My rabbit was not impressed. Bring on the summer, then I can sit outside with DD and have the bunnies out at the same time.

I give up on House Insurance. They ask too many questions I don't know the answer to. Think I'll just renew the one I've got. My brain just isn't functioning at the moment.

Giz - My Oh went back to work on nights on Monday and i've struggled this week, it really got to me last night felt so tired and stressed and felt as though i was neglecting Immy Lou with trying to fit everything in, so today i've done sweet fa, except feed, change and play with her, feel so much better.... ;)

Transvaginal Ultrasound? My placenta didn't come away and I had to go to theatre... I'm still losing and a bit worried although not heavy (sorry if TMI) and i've been wondering if I should get checked out....

Pigpen - Shouldn't laugh, but that cheered me up, really dont know how you stay sane :A

As for mum and baby groups, I wouldn't know where to start, how do you find out about these things? It might help me getting out of the house a bit......

Yeah, I had a ERPC 2 weeks ago to remove "retained products" after a heavy bleed. And I have to have the ultrasound tomorrow to make sure they got it all. After what I've been through, if you think the bleeding is still too much get it checked out. I thought my bleeding was normal all this time - I was comparing it to my normal periods - obviously my periods must be a bit heavier than the average person.

Have you had the HV visit yet? I got a bunch of leaflets from mine with info on groups.

That's what I did. The ink was non toxic and I wiped it off straight afterwards with a wipe. If you want hand prints your best bet is probably when they're asleep - Alice was much older before I was able to get hands as I couldn't get her to keep her hands flat - she would screw her hand up. Feet are dead easy though.
