I struggle with social things.
I suffer from panic attacks and think that I'm either going to pass out, vomit or poo myself even though I very rarely do any of that. I find it stressful meeting people as I worry in case I have a panic attack and faint/sick/poo in front of them, which makes me panic more.
I don't like being "trapped" and hate sitting in the middle of a row at the cinema/theatre, or in a jammed in a seat at a table. I like to sit somewhere where there is clear access to the exit.
I also like to know exactly where the toilets are, so if I need to run, I know where to go. That can either be public toilets if I'm out, or if I come to your house I really need to know where the toilet is before I feel comfortable sitting on your sofa
Do I win the freakiest parent award?
In other news, I booked a holiday today :j We're going to Cala Santandria in Menorca for a week in August. Looking forward to the break and just chilling out :cool:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Nope... I check toilets in places before I will eat or drink there.. if the loo is gross I leave!
The more I drink the more antisocial I become.. I won't sit in a 'trapped' seat either.. it makes me hot and stroppy.
I can't wear socks as they depress me... though I will for a while if it is really freezingly cold
I class everyone as a moron until they prove otherwise.. that wins me friends believe me!
I wear sunglasses in ALL weather... so freaks don't know I am watching them... I have my hood up in the sun.. and not up in the rain..
I pick my children up 5 minutes late from school every day so I don't have to fraternise with the other parents in the playground.. and the teachers know and let me..
I form better relationships with people online because they are computer generated response units and none of you actually exist, therefore I do not have to give any of myself to you nor do I have to get anything in return. This explains why I waffle quite so much $h!t

sharkeybabe wrote: »Hello, hope everyone is ok. I have been lurking and not posting much as I am feeling a bit overwhelmed by everything at the moment. Sofia seems to be settling a bit better but I on the other hand seem to be feeling "strange" sorry dont really know what other word to call it. I have got over my constant tiredness but really need to get some motivation and start doing things. I wanted to go to some Mum and baby groups but I am really quite shy and just dont know whether I would like it, but then I feel really selfish that I shouldnt be thinking about me but doing it for Sofia. My HV is bringing out all the brochures next week when she comes so we will see if I fancy anything.
Things are picking up on the money front aswell, Child benefit got paid last week, and my child tax & working tax credits have been sorted and will be paid as from Tuesday, just waiting on a couple more things and hopefuly it will all work out.
Hope everyone else is ok.
Don't worry about getting out to groups straight away. As Erin was born in October 09 and that winter was really cold all the groups I went to were totally empty! It wasn't until the weather got warmer that people started venturing out. Also you need to be prepared for the 2hours it takes to get ready for any outing! Any sometimes even after your best efforts you still don't make it out lol.Sharkey, Giz & SJP glad to see you all posting here, it is very different from the pregnancy thread and I do appreciate that when people get the chance to come on to post they usually need to vent about their own situation!
My LO has just woken up so need to make this short. So quick question, I have one of those £5 off vouchers for Sainsbury's TU childrenswear range. They don't sell online and when I search for a store near me selling it I'm told there's nothing close by (don't know what parameters they use to define "close by"). Does anyone know of a big Sainsbury's superstore anywhere in London which carries this range?
I don't know where about it London you are, I'm in the South so only know of the Sainsburys down here. They have the range at my local - Streatham Common and I know there is one on Dog Kennel Road (near Denmark Hill) - that's a big 24hr one so I think they do clothes as well. And they have some in the one on Purley Way (nr Croydon) and also the huge one in Merton.Mum to DD born Oct 2009

@MI3 - I would have thought any Sainsburys in London with clothes would sell the childrens Tu clothes. Even the tiny Sains in near me sells them.
Day 3 of being alone with DD. I got to admit - it's actually easier without OH. There's less clearing up to do! He does seem to create more mess when he's home
I'm making an effort today to make a proper dinner tonight. Mum is coming over later so I'll take that opportunity to prep the dinner while she entertains DD.
Didn't have my scan yesterday - was a bit of a balls up and they never booked me for a scan so got to go back on Tuesday.
I've been on walkjogrun.com working out distances to walk to places to work my way up to getting fit again. I walked 1 mile yesterday - I know it's not much but my hips are still playing up. But 1 mile was good. I'm going to try 1.5miles today.
Just filled in the Tax Credits form. It's all so complicated. I get so paranoid that I'm doing it wrong then I'll get in trouble. I got confused over the part that asks about if you work. It says if you are on 39 weeks or less mat leave then say yes. But I'm taking 52 weeks. So phoned up...apparently it means if you are in the 39 weeks of mat leave NOW. She says I need to phone up and let them know when I move over to the unpaid mat leave.
DD has been having green poo the last 2 - 3 days. I've been off antibiotics for 5 days now, so it can't be that. Other suggestions are that she's not getting enough hind milk. Her last poo was mustard again. So maybe it's the hind milk problem. She's definitely staying on the breast for long enough, but I do feel toward the end of the feed she is nibbling.
I've ordered washable breastpads. I've gone through 2 boxes in less than 5 weeks, and at full price 2 more boxes will not be far off the cost of the washable ones.
When can I start using washable nappies? The 3 I have still look huge. Is anyone here using reusables?
Becles - I'm with you on the being trapped thing. And I'm very jealous of your holiday. I can't see that we'll have one this year. We want to go to New York to take DD to meet family next year, so need to save for that.
It's a shame we don't all live in the same area and could go to baby groups togetherIt's nice to know I'm not the only one that gets so worked up about going to stuff like that. I guess I need to think that other mums at my group are in the same position and just try and make an effort to talk to them. I can see it'll be hard though if they already know each other.

Giz, if you think she needs more hind milk.. express the foremilk until letdown occurs and then feed her.. see if that helps. i used washable nappies from getting home from hospital.. and mine were tiny.LB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0

Thanks Jennynoo I'll bear the Streatham branch in mind as that's only a bus ride away. Is TU a nice range, good value/quality?
I haven't joined any mother and baby groups yet - just getting organised to go out seems like quite a task at the moment especially if they are in the morning as that's when I'm most sleepy/disorganised. Also it feels a bit contrived to me too.
Giz, I have a stack of fluffy terries that I was planning to put LO in but haven't yet. Tried once but it was so bulky I went back to the eco-sposies.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -
afternoon x
I went to a NCT nearly new sale this morning and it was rubbish - the worst I've ever been to. I only needed a few 6-9 month bits because for some reason I have no clothes in this size except a few bits I've taken back that were 3-6 months and changed up. The prices people wanted for things as well was rediculous - ebay plus postage was alot cheaper. Whenever I went for DD or DS the toys were always great but these ones were dirty old and well worn and they were priced at what they nearly cost new. One outfit I did get that looked lovely marked up as 6-9 months well when I got home I checked the labels and the top is but the trousers were 3-6 months so that will teach me to check more carefully, they'll be useless now as bob is growing out of 3-6 and still has a couple of gifts with tags on. I'll not go again as I have bin bags full of 9-12 and upwards, I had baby bits too but they were all summery and Bob needed winter stuff, I haven't a clue what happened to DS 6-9 month clothes. I must have ebayed the whole lot.
Bob had a bit of a night last night too, he was fussing around 10pm but not loudly, then proper woke at midnight so I changed him and fed him. He didn't seem interested in the fed so I don't think he was hungry. Then around 3-4am he kept being sick into his mouth and swallowing it, he would settle then 10 mins later do it again. Did it about 3-4 times then went back to sleep. I know he is still poorly with this cold thingy, he has a cough now too, it is taking ages to get over. Gonna be cancelling his 3rd lot of injections at this rate.0 -

I'm not keen on NCT, the only one I've been to was a total scrum although we did get some nice stuff for £1 per item.
Are you sure it's sick? Not that it makes any difference but it could be phlegm, when Erin's ill she coughs up phlegm and sometimes makes herself sick from coughing too much. She's also had a few chest infections which I assume come from her not being able to cough the phlegm up properly.
Make-it-3 Hurray, someone else near meI like the TU range, the sometime have some really cute things and the quality is not bad although I always wait until they have a 25% off sale which they seem to do every couple of months.
I'm supposed to be cleaning the kitchen now but OH will never noticeMight go for a walk to the park when Erin wakes up as the weather is ok for a change.

Most of Squeak's clothes are TU and they do wash well, at least I think so
better than tesco, which doesn't hold it's shape at all!
