Yeah I know that Delain. Its just a lot harder than I ever thought it would be. Everytime I look at her though I do feel this incrediable sense of love for her and I think that some of her problems are my fault - I hate seeing her cry and lift her straight away and I know that I need to stop that but she is my baby and my instinct is to sooth her. aw well live and learn.[/COLOR] Starting the new year in a good way cooking baby sharkeybabe no2:j:j0

It's not your fault
All babies have grumpy periods, growth spurts and teething.
I think 3 weeks is a bit early to worry about picking her up right away.
If you do what Aless has said and keep it all dark and quiet at night you'll find it will happen quickly.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

evening all x Hope you are all ok
Pigpen its so lovely to hear how the slightly older ones are getting on and the things Bob will hopefully be doing soon.
Aless I found when I worked pt after having my first it was quite easy but when I went back to a full time job after both of them it was horrendous, I'd get them up around 5:30am to get us all washed dressed and breakfasted and drop them at the childminders at 7am, drive an hour to work, Work all day (actually the easiest part of the day) then drive an hour back to pick them up, drive home cook and eat dinner, wash up, put the kids to bed, then do any housework. There was no time to play, most the money went on the childminder, petrol and smart work clothes so it really wasnt worth it. Plus I truely believe this is the reason I have early morning issues with DS. Now working round OH hours is working really well as it cuts out the dropping off and picking up part plus all my pay is mine and it's loads more relaxed than being at home but I do miss the kids when I'm at work, I'm gonna really miss Bob. The other 2 are either at school or sleeping when I work so its no bother but I won't be able to do baby group etc anymore.
Today has been really good. DS woke me at 7am, Bob was still asleep but I got him up too because I couldn't leave him with OH. After Bobs morning nap we went to a local park for a massive walk, fed the ducks, had hot chocolates whilst the kids played in the playground, then came home shattered. Bob slept for a couple of hours when we got home, was up and played for a few hours and has now gone to bed. He is currently having his day time naps in his big cot and that's going well so will be looking at moving him soonish. I like him being next to me though.0 -

I quite agree. I don't think I put Squeaks down at all when she was three weeks old
Not that I could go anywhere really without the pram to hold me up :rotfl:Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

Shorty slept through at a few days old.. next one will be a non-sleeper I'd put money on it! I think we've only had 2 bad nights with her and OH dealt with her admirably.. she is being a pita at the moment when she is awake she wants me.. I am not allowed out of sight or to put her down.. the clings on with hands and legs and screams.. she won't even let OH feed her.. he does faff though and tries to reason with her to stop her spitting spoonfuls out and will do several spoons then piddle about on his lappy andshe just wants feeding.. she just wants me to hold her and cuddle and play with her.. it is driving me to distraction.
Thankfully she goes to bed about 7:30 for at least 12 hours and does 2-3 hours during the day tooLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -

Poor DH though he said the minute I left the room S woke up and just wouldnt settle so he was pretty stressed when I came back down the stairs.lol. She is now fast asleep but not holding out that she will sleep for long.
At night I have been doing what you said - everything quiet and dark and I change her nappy in the dark as well, but she is still bright as a button. Guess I need to keep reminding myself that she is only 3 weeks old and it all takes time.
Yup, it all takes time. Maybe in a few weeks or so, I definitely recommend not going to her straight away when she cries or makes a noise - oftentimes they aren't really awake and give it a minute or so (or even 5!) you will often find they will drop back off again.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

This is new to me so not sure if this is normal at this stage or not ??? I dont want her to hurt herself.
James used to do that when he was a few weeks old. He used to like being held upright and he would sort of walk around on my thighs.
He did it so much, his legs were super strong and he walked at 9 months old. He'd not even attempted walking and my Mam was round, and all of a sudden he just got up and confidently walked across the floor. Me and my Mam were totally speechless. I'm pleased she was there as I don't think I would have believed my eyes if it was just me
Sharkey - don't beat yourself up. Nothing is your fault and you're not doing anything wrong. There are no strict rules on parenting and the happiest Mam's just make it up as they go along and go with whatever suits them and their baby bestHere I go again on my own....0 -
Becles don't say that - Squeaks is a stander as well and she best not walk at 9 months....Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession
