He is really hungry and wants it faster?
He isn't hungry and just wants comfort not food?
He is not hungry and wants to play/talk?
He is tired/teething/snuffly/or just being a pain?
Could be a million reasons..
I had a day with Erin when she just wouldn't feed on one side. Never did find out why but she was fine the next day.
Delain - I see no problem with cheese on toast. If you follow the baby lead weaning guide as long as baby can pick up the food and put it in the mouth it's ok for them to have. I would however not give really stringy cheese as even I struggle with that sometimes!Mum to DD born Oct 2009

ThanksI don't think the cheese we have is stringy lol. I'll have to have a piece to check
MV I hope he's ok tomorrow. I've never BF more than 3 weeks but from what you said I'd put my money on teethingcan't be easy to do all that sucking when you have toothache, it'd certainly make me cry anyway!

My friends new grandaughter apparently had a tooth at 6 weeks so it isn't unheard of. I don't know the baby's mum mind so might be a proud new Grandad exaggerating lol I had forgotten he was quite that young though
Have you got any BF support groups or anything? It could be loosely defined as a BF problem. Your HV might be able to offer you some tips if you've got a good one, I know they can be a bit hit and miss.
Hopefully the massage should help with the wind if that's whats causing him pain. Does he pull his legs up to his chest and does his tummy feel hard?
My twins used to fart like troopers (big manly ones ) but never burped at all when they were tiny until they could hold their own heads up.Mum of several with a twisted sense of humour and a laundry obsession:o

he does seem to struggle with my right boob more than the left, but I haven't noticed him rubbing one side of his head.
I'll give the massage a go on his tummy anyway and see if that helps.Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
Hi MV, sorry things aren't settling down for you. I know how you are feeling, William took ages to settle into sleeping, he was still cosleeping at 6 weeks.
He also used to scream on the breast and i know what you mean about being extremely upsetting. William seemed to want food quicker than i could provide it. Some days fine others utter screaming! He has been combi fed since birth as he is a lazy feeder on the breast and too hungry, so all that has happened is that now at 3 months he has finished BF and is now on formula alone. He is very close to weaning. William was also very good at farting, but i found rubbing his back quite vigorously while trying to burp him used to distract him and he will give one small belch, but he def prefers to fart. My HV said it is all gas and works the same way.
Good luck with it all and i hope you get a good night again as soon as possible.Leopardlady

So at what point did you stop BF'ing altogether?Metranil dreams of becoming a neon,You don't even take him seriously,How am I going to get to heaven?,When I'm just balanced so precariously..0 -
evening all x
I'm shattered, had a great day with DD but bobs was all wrong since we got up an hour earlier than normal. So he has gone to bed but I have a bottle I'll take up with me incase he wakes tonight, if he can do a weeks sleeping through he can go in his big cot, he is growing so fast. Had the ear piercing screaming after his bath tonight which hasn't happened for a while, hopefully tomorrow will be better, when I'm home all day, OH didn't have a clue today. Its a shame because he done great in the earlier days.
MV I agree with pigpen it could be a million different things. Bob was quite hard work between 6-10 weeks but he grew so much he went from being on the bottom line for height on the centile chart to the 50 line. His hungar was unreal but I can understand it now seeing how much he grew.0 -
