That charlotte eh? She must have you all in stitches at times. They are wonderful at that age lol.

Had a great day with OH and LO today. OH works with a farmers wife and she invited us over to see the lambs! LO spent a good 20 mins feeding and petting the ilittle lambs about a week old and then we saw horses and cows too. I can't touch lambs due to baby apparantly so filmed them for OH. Needless to say I didn't do such a good job as him lol.

Also bought out of season strawberries against my better judgement - they are never as nice as they look. I was coerced by a demanding 3 yr old into buying them :-) Might try them with some balsamic vinegar though as it brings out the taste apparantly.

I love blueberries and have tried to grow them in ericacious compost twice and each time they have died on me - got some from poundland this yr and am hoping to be more successful this time.

Ladybird I know I don't need to justify it to you guys, I was justifying it to myself :rotfl:

Charlotte does sound a legend :D

The twins are really funny about fruit, Twin2 only eats satsumas (or similar small oranges) and Twin1 will only eat stawberries and grapes, so it's an expensive habit in our house, but I think it's worth it to get them eating fruit at all so I always have a full fruit bowl and an empty wallet :o

DD1 eats most things, I think I've used the phrase 'Human Dustbin' on here before! Her favourite is bananas though.

Oh I stewed the blueberries with the apples, and added a couple of banans to take any sour edge off, went a very fetching purple :rotfl: then I put it in the blender because I got bored of trying to sieve it :p

Going to try to take a pic of Squeak's face next time she has it, she didn't look amused at all!

Whizzed up a load of Veggies as well as all the fruit and froze it all in ice cube trays (thanks to whoever mentioned that, I'm sure I learned it here) so have most of Squeaks food for the next week done :j

Oh Tsstss, OH got some gooseberry plants from Lidl one year and planted them outside, they stayed as sticks until over a year later when they had fruit on  so don't give up on them straight away.

Sweet potato, now that's a good idea!

In the 'roast' there was potato, carrot, cabbage, parsnip and almost all of a huge bag of spinach that needed eating.

OH bought some rice cakes as well, she seems to like those. Makes a change from toast anyway which she loves but just mushes up and throws to land in soogy lumps all over the place :o

That was never a problem in our house with my two furry hoovers :rotfl:

If people are cooking things like casseroles, chilli, stews etc., trying mushing them up or sticking them in the blender and see what baby thinks of them. I cook from scratch most days and just fed mine whatever we were having. It's paid off as they're all good eaters now and eat pretty much anything.

Half term this week. I love having the bairns at home.

Just got a quick call to do in a supermarket near my parents today. I'll drop the bairns in and go and do that, then go and have a cuppa and a natter with my parents

Have a good day all xx

I look forward to the days when I'm stewing fruit rather than breastfeeding :) I've got to admit it's not creating the bonding experience I thought it would. Still getting quite frustrated at DD's fidgetness. This morning I swaddled her - she wasn't impressed, but I had very little patience.

OH is getting fed up of being housebound. I quite like just staying at home (I love daytime telly). But I've agreed to go out to a few places this week to get out the house.

Today we walked round the block. DD's first time in her proper pushchair (as opposed to the car seat attachment). She screamed the house down, but as soon as we got rolling she fell asleep.

The last 2 night have been terrible for sleep...mostly my fault. Not sure if I'm coming down with something but I just could not sleep at all. DD had her usual screamfest from about 9pm - 1am. OH has been a star and stayed downstairs with her until she stopped then she slept fine the rest of the night in the bedroom. But OH has to go back to work in a couple of weeks and he won't be able to do that anymore. I'm really not a night owl, but I'm thinking that maybe I'm going to have to get used to staying up till midnight soothing DD while OH sleeps...and then sleep in longer in the morning.

It does get better Giz I promise :)

Then you will be worrying about whether or not they're eating enough and when they should drop feeds... Not that you ever stop worrying really even when they are 8 and massively tall

It's good to get out for a walk if you can. I've got dogs so I'm out walking every day in all weathers. Charlotte has come with me from birth. She's 3 now and she doesn't care what the weather is like. Even today when it was bitterly cold and drizzling, she was happily running around collecting sticks!

It does you good as well and gets the endorphins and stuff going. I tend to see the same faces when I'm out, and even just a quick "hello, miserable weather again" type chat will make you feel better on days when your OH is back at work.

I've been reading about Outdoor Nation in my National Trust Magazine.
    http://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/main/w-global/w-news/w-latest_news/w-news-outdoor-nation.htm

    This bit is relevant:
a growing body of evidence shows that taking part in simple outdoor activities, such as going for a short walk every day, offers huge potential to improve our quality of life, health and wellbeing.

There are loads more research papers on here about the link between health and nature, and the importance of letting children play outside. I'm busy reading through them and finding them interesting.

Sorry if I'm boring people but I like being outside :o

Becles I was told by my HV with DD1 to 'Go out every day - even when it's raining!' She said that she thought it helped ward off PND with the endorphin thing, and that even if you're only going to the shops you're still going to meet people :D
