Nice to see you fuzz :hello:

Thank Delain
Nice to be back, been working as a VA so that on top of DD and housework made for no MSE:( The withdrawal symptoms I had were immense:p:rotfl:
DD is a little fidget and ridiculously nosy, no idea where she gets that from:whistle::), and she does flap around sometimes when she has a bottle, but thats easier to deal with as it's not attached to me:p1.11.09 - debt = £45k:eek:

Giz can completly empathise with you, I felt the same but honestly if you persevere it's totally worth it, I'm still bfing Lottie most of the time but from 5 weeks we introduced small amounts of formula, mainly for my sanity:o and she took to it quite well and now we give her formula when out and about, mainly due to the fact I'm no good at covering myself up, natural exhibitionist me:p:rotfl:
Anyhoo I have a bfing question, what are the signs that baby is ready to give up the boob??? I have a feeling Lottie isn't as keen on bfing anymore as I am:( She gets really agitated while at the boob and is constantly on and off it, it's definitely not wind and her attachment has always been good. The only time she feeds well is just before her bedtime and I think thats only coz she's too knackered to wriggle about:p:D
TIA x
Welcome back! We've just been discussing babies not bf properly and came to the conclusion that there are many reasons why. In your case as your LO is a bit older it could be teeth or just getting distracted by things going on around her or a million other things! She might just settle down in a few days.
I can't give great advice about stopping BF as I still haven't stopped! However I've been following the don't offer but don't refuse if they ask. I know if I keep Erin really busy she doesn't ask apart from at bed time and in the morning now so it is a good way of dropping the day time feeds - however it will only work if they know how to ask - Erin will ask by signing milk or pulling my top up!Mum to DD born Oct 2009

confuzzled, what exactly do you mean "ready to give up the boob"? Because naturally a baby won't self wean until somewhere between approx 1-3yrs old, obviously we're born naturally wanting our mother's milk! I am more than happy to share advice, but not sure what you're after exactly. I think all babies go through spurts of shorter nursing/more fidgeting, whatever, especially as they grow more aware of the world around them. However, eventually they'll calm down and figure out that in order to actually get milk, they have to stop fidgeting long enough to nurse
.
Hi Jenny! Haven't seen you around, glad you're popping in! Well done to Erin for making a bun. We love getting 'gifts' from Finn that he makes at the CM's. I think he'd make us more if he stopped eating the glue and paint

Giz I have no experience of bf, but just wanted to say, don't be feeling pressured by yourself or others, a tired and stressed mum is no good for baby and not good for you. When I was in hospital with DD the woman opposite had been in for 3 days trying to bf, finally when we left she asked for a bottle, I thought "thankfully" because listening to her and her baby all night was heartbreaking.
Anyway suppose what I'm wanting to say is if you want to quit, quit, you're not a failure, you tried and that's that. A happy and contented mum & baby is more important. Oh and hope you feel better soon.:heart2:Baby boy due 4th March 2011:heart2:0 -
I'm afraid I'm close to quitting bf again. I broke down in front of mum and I'm in tears all the time at home. But I'm really trying to stick it out until I can express and get OH to give 1 bottle a day. When can I start this? How do I start? What do I need for storing breast milk? I will have a google in a bit, but maybe some of you won't mind helping.
I have a manual pump which I used about day 4 because I nearly quit then and I pumped for 5 mins per breast (as per instructions) and got 15ml in total.
Hiya, one of the reasons i quit bfing is because it made me cry all the time, i really hated it and i felt like i hated Lily when she was feeding on me.
I tried to express and only got 30ml in half an hour, which would not of been enough for my fatty baby.
I stored it in the freezer in the Tommee Tippee breastmilk storage pots, it took me ages to fill a pot though
I think theres some info on the front page about expressing and storing breastmilk
If you stick to it then great, if you do move to formula then its not a problem at all. (formula is not poision, like some people think it is)
((hugs)) i know how it feels to be constantly crying and its not nice.0 -
LOL I had typed more or less the same but lost my post! Giz I typed a long winded post yesterday about my b/feeding experience and I had a relatively easy time of it (I also expressed and laterally DD got formula for last feed at night).
I went to a b/feeding support group, mainly for the company, is there something like that you can go to? I don't want to say just give up, especially if you really want to carry on with it, but NEVER feel guilty about doing so. I was ashamed to tell anyone when I started giving DD a formula bottle at night but there is a lot of pressure out there that makes mums feel like this. You have given it good go and no matter how long you continue for, you have given the best start to your baby!
Fuzz DD gave up my boob at 8 months which was kind of ok as I was going back to work then anyway, I was quite happy offering her milk first thing but she decided otherwise (and I did persevere with this for a good while but if they don't want it then they don't want it!). Every baby is different at the end of the day.;)"That's no reason to cry. One cries because one is sad. For example, I cry because others are stupid, and that makes me sad."0 -
Whilst im here, Lily has a burst blood vessel in her eye. Is that a problem?0

Ditto, I posted further back about my experience with DD1. I was almost afraid of feeding her I used to dread it and it contributed to my PND hugely.
