LL - I have also been crying a lot and wondering if I have PND. DD is so unsettled and barely sleeps during the day (I'm becoming quite a proficient one hand typist!). At night she's much different yet we were advised to make sure she didn't go longer than 3 hours without a feed so kept waking her. Saw a new MW yesterday and she said that as long as she is feeding during the day then let her sleep at night until she wakes up for a feed. So we had a blissful 5 hours last night and I feel much more able to cope with the constant daytime screaming today.
We were told to feed every 4 hours at hosp so carried on waking H up during the night until saw a new HV at 3 weeks who said let baby sleep during night if he wants to- slept 6 hours the next night- couldnt believe we'd been doing ourselves out of sleep!!
just shows all the differing advice you get though.:j0 -
Evening everyone, glad to see new babies are giving new mums some sleep - the first time t slept through from 9 till 6 me and DH were up all night being sick and had diarrhea (typical!!). He now goes through from 8ish till 5/6 or even 7:30 which I think is pretty good as we were up every 2 hours. (Just cursed it now!)
I got a jumperoo about 2 weeks from netmums for £45 I reckon I could get about that back for it, is in our kitchen and means can make food and eat, he is bouncing mad as I struggle too to get him to nap indoors - if we go for a walk or head to starbucks he will happily sleep but not at home, makeit3 does your DD sleep out or just awake wherever?
Merfe I got a boots travel steriliser will only hold two bottles with teats etc but is a lot smaller than a big microwave one, plus you can use it as a microwave one when in a rush or as I do now just use it as a cold water steriliser with boots tablets as I only use it for expressing equipment. Talking of sterilising when do you stop (age wise) or don't you?Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

thanks everyone
I had completely forgot about cold water sterilising, I'd need to look into this first as never done it. Sir monster I might have a search for that travel one but I'd have to use it at least 3 times a day which seems I bit of a faff, but then I suppose there would be no need to take more than 2-3 bottles with me saving some space.
Elainec I was told not to let them go more than 6 hours without a feed in the hospital but only until they were sure his blood sugars had settled then leave him as long as he wants -he doesn't go more than 6 hours now without a feed i wish. There does seem to be loads of different advice given.0 -
LL... what sort of advice is in that sleep book?? When Daisy hit 3 months that was it - she's never been to sleep since!!! Last night was just awful:( I'm completely exhausted and we have the keys to our new house... and now I don't like the house which is probably down to being so tired:o
I thought I was a bit OTT having the need to Dyson the house when we got the keys this morning but I'm glad we did cos it needed it!! It's all cold and a bit smelly but the garden seems to of grown since the last time we saw it!!:rotfl:
Lots to do but we're having a break until DS gets home from school so we can take him as he hasn't seen the house yet.
Ooooohhhh You gettid a new house ???? Congratz...
If you lived closer I'd be offering to borrow your minxy for a bit.. The 2 babies could sit and poke each other in the eyes and pull each others ears!
and mine sleeps... and eats... and not much else.. usually 8-8 overnight and 1-3 in a afternoon... so we can't go out because she hates the car seat and she hates the pushchair and she hates the slings!becles yuck, I was always afraid of this as DD had a habit of taking her nappy off. Our worst was sudocrem and the tester pot at that but I've also had a mascara covered mirror.
Right so I'm hearing so many good things about jumperoos - are they really worth it or will a door bouncer do? I have a door bouncer already that the other 2 loved and I know there are other things, music etc with the jumperoo but is it really worth all that money.
Yes jumperoos are worth all that money!
We've had sudocrem over everything imaginable.. DD4 covered DD5 in about 15 seconds whie I made a cuppa.. the clothes had to be binned and they were scrubbedLB moment 10/06 Debt Free date 6/6/14Hope to be debt free until the day I dieMortgage-free Wannabee (05/08/30)6/6/14 £72,454.65 (5.65% int.)08/12/2023 £33602.00 (4.81% int.)0 -
I'm only just discovering how differing advice on bringing up baby can be - its staggering really. Trouble is when its your first and you're anxious to get everything right. I think I'm just beginning to get over that hump and find the confidence to do what feels right for me and my baby.We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0

Do you have music channels on your TV? We had a door bouncer and I used to stick a dance music channel on and mine had a good old bop around in the bouncerIt's a lot less stressful just taking car load of boxes over a few days rather than doing it all in one day:)
That's what I did! I got the keys for here on the Friday and put the flooring down while the utility was empty, washed all the kitchen and bedroom cupboards out and brought the fragile things over.
On the Saturday we moved all the furniture in a van. On the Sunday I moved clothes and the rest of the boxes. Both houses had fitted bedroom furniture, so I just lifted clothes out into those jumbo storage bags to transport them and put them straight in the new wardrobes and drawers here
On Monday morning I did a last clean in the old house and dropped the keys off.Next question - we are going to stay at my dads in april in scilly, when I took DD as a baby I'm sure he had a steriliser so I didn't need to take mine but this time I doubt he'll have it (I think it was borrowed from a friend and was 6 years ago). Would you take your full size steam steriliser or is it worth buying a microwave one?
What about cold water sterilising? When we've been on holiday, I just took cold water tablets and sterilised everything in the bathroom sink!sir_monster wrote: »Talking of sterilising when do you stop (age wise) or don't you?
When they start crawling round the floor and putting random crap in their mouths :rotfl:
I think they say from 6 months old for bowls, spoons etc., but I never bothered sterilising them at all. Just washed them in hot soapy water.
I sterilised milk bottles till they were taken away after their 1st birthdays. Milk bacteria is nasty and there's too many nooks and crannies in bottles and teats where germs can lurk.I'm only just discovering how differing advice on bringing up baby can be - its staggering really. That reminds me of a Victoria Wood quote. She said with the first born, everthing is perfect and you have a beautiful height chart where you measure them and record their height on a regular basis. By the time the second and third come along, you check their height by looking at the snot trail on your anorak :rotfl:Here I go again on my own....0 -
Some funny stories
guess I've got lots more mess to look forward to. Today we had our first projectile vomiting in the car - it's something different every week, I'm just praying she isn't sick in the bed again because I'm sick of changing sheets.

Doesn't AF mean that I'm ovulating? Plus still have zero sex drive at the moment which I think is related to the lack of normal cycles. Did have a bit of excitement before christmas but it didn't last.Mum to DD born Oct 2009

If you use it as a cold water steriliser it keeps for 24 hours, I put things in it and out for 24 hours then do a fresh solution - not sure if this is correct?? You have to wait for tablets to dissolve and then half an hour for stuff to be sterile then rinse it off with cooled boiled water but its better than bunging it in microwave as stuff only keeps for a few hours that is with lid shut, but I have used it like that when need stuff quickly. Is a nice box that you could put a couple of bottles in to travel with and could use as a microwave steriliser on journey and then cold water when you get there.Thomas born 28/08/2010 weighing 5lbs and 4ounces, small but perfectly formed :j:j Now weighs 19lbs and 5 ounces

Morning all. How is everyone? I've not caught up all the way back to when I was last on, but I see there are lots of new (and very sleepy looking!) faces. It gets loads easier, I promise!
Todays smearning things everywhere item in this house is nutella. I told her not to wipe her hands on my trousers so she used her own instead. That wasn't quite what I meant. Oops!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

morning just catching up while I drink my morning coffee. Snotty noses here again - I honestly cannot beleive the number of colds ds2 has had since he started playgroup.
:rotfl:Anyway that brings me to my quote of the day. DS2 says " I need a tissue" comes up and wipes his nose on me - naturally I say yuck don't use me as a tissue and he says "mummy you are my best tissue in the world"..MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0
