However I had my scan the other day so nice to know that baby seems to be fine. S/he wasn't cooperative though so we still don't know the sex.lol. She said it "looks" more like a girl but I'm not sure what she is basing that on really so don't really want to start buying pink just in case. So stuck with lemon :rotfl:.
My MIL said she knew what we were having from the scan and it was from the side - I assume they can sometimes see ovaries (or lack of ovaries) even if they can't see anything else!Isabella Molly born 14th January 2009

I remember when I showed a midwife a scan of my uterus, she asked if I had a cyst, I said no?! I never queried that one :rotfl:0

Does he have a planner for school?
Mine do and they have to write down any homework they get and teachers can write messages to me in it and vice versa.
yes but it's very rare for teachers to leave me messages in it - I agree it's a good way to keep organised though although ds1 doesn't always remember to write his homework in it. tbh though it's his attitude in class that seems to have deteriorated and I knew nothing about that at all until parents evening. His grades hadn't been falling so I assumed everything was ok (they get graded each half term).
Mine are 12 and 14. When they come in from school, they have to tell me what homework has been set that day and show me any notes from teachers. Notes for messing about in class get discussed and they know I'm not happy about getting them! Homework that has to be before the weekend has to be done that evening before they're allowed to do anything else. Also bedrooms have to be tidied if they've left anything on the floor etc.
He is 13 so in the middle of yours lol. He has recently started to have a deeper voice and be v. interested in girls so I think hormones might be some of the problem. Also his fav. grandparent died last nov. so I think he might be grieving in a way but not really expressing in it in a way we see as regular grief.
On Saturdays they have to do all their homework (unless it's loads and I agree they can do some on Sunday) before they are allowed to do anything.
I tried to get ds to do his hmwk fri eve for this reason as he like to go to town on sats but his dad interfered and said I was being unreasonable and it was plenty time enough to do it on sunday - I often get interference like that when I try and set rules!!!.
On Sundays they have to tidy, hoover and dust their rooms before they're allowed anything.
That way if they sit and faff about so 30 mins of homework takes them three hours, then it's three hours of their own xbox/facebook/playing out time they've wasted
I'm strict with bedtimes for James as he needs a lot of sleep and he plays up if he's tired. He's in bed by around 8pm but can read till 8.30pm. Sometimes let him have late nights on weekends and school holidays if we're watching a film or something. I'm more relaxed with Josh as he's mature enough to decide when he's tired and he goes to bed. Sometimes he's asleep by 8.30pm other nights he's up till about 10.30-11pm.
Josh wants to do an extra science GCSE next year which isn't timetabled and is a lot of work at home. Thought it best to be strict to get him used to doing the extra work at home.
Humm seems you are a deal stricter than me I suppose having two (when they were younger) you have to be. I think I will have to introduce some more discipline around here for his sake as he isn't self regulating very well any more. I used to be able to send him off to bed at 8 and he would be asleep within ten mins now he can easliy faff around till 11 if I'm not there to turn everything off and make him sleep.....I think part of the reason i've let things slide was that ds2 was SO difficult for about 18mths or even longer - he wouldn't feed at all well when he was born (when ds1 was 10) and I spent rediculous amounts of time coping with simple things like bedtime as he was so tempermental. It's only now that ds2 has finally started to be more reasonable that I'm able to spend any reasonable amount of time thinking about ds1 - before he basically just had to slot in as there was no other option and both dads were never very much help.My DS is 14 (nearly 15) and I can't say I have any problems with him. Internet is off for EVERYONE at 10pm at weekends... 9pm school nights. We are very consistent with "rules" not that we have silly strict rules as such. He's just recently started a volunteering job which I think is a great way to become independant and learning responsibilities. He also has jobs to do around the house for which he gets pocket money for.
I do feel very lucky to have such a lovely teenage son... but dreading when he starts going out at night:eek::rotfl:
Blimy if I did this I'd never get to go online ....I usually don't get time to do any internet stuff until past ds1 bedtime so 10pm would be my usual start time.:o
We have put timers on his comp though (it goes off at 10pm but he doesn't get to go on until after his hmwork is done) Problem is he has been saying it's done when its not and up until recently I trusted his word implicitly - he never used to lie ever!! It's almost like he is a toddler again lol.
Am also dreading the going out at night stuff too as I'm not overly keen on drinking etc and hate the idea of my beloved ds doing drugs - only thing is round here (as everywhere I guess) they are on the increase and town seems like the wild west these days.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
He is 13 .
The main problem is although I try to be consistant other people say I am too lenient generally - so then I end up wondering and worrying I am doing him a diservice by giving him too much freedom.
For example I generally relax rules at weekends as I see it as a time for relaxing and fun. I then get people telling me that he was posting on facebook past 11pm which i don't think is a massive big deal but obviously they do.
I think the main problem is he is growing up fast and I'm still used to the sweet generally good boy I had a few years ago lol. We never needed lots of rules then but suddenly he seems to need micro managing and I'm not sure how micro to beas I really want him to start to become more independant in some ways but also more RESPONSIBLE lol. It's not the Vitamin D I object too, but the banana flavour that they come in that they think is suitable for a newborn. We Made-it-3 on 28/01/11 with birth of our gorgeous DD.0 -

Bit unnecessary really as a newborn won't have ever eaten a banana could be snot flavour for all they would care! Hate to think what they actually flavour it with too...must be all manner of chemicals.MSE PARENT CLUB MEMBER.ds1 nov 1997ds2 nov 2007:jFirst DDFirst DD born in june:beer:.0 -
Lol I didn't know they flavoured it. Perhaps it's dead bitter? Or maybe they hand it out to older kids with rickets?0
