  • Still getting very little luck from Vodafone - had a call back in response to the complaint submitted to the CEO's office. They have grudgingly agreed to refund the money to my bill (I'll believe it when I see it) but can offer me no assurance that they've taken precautions against this happening again. Nor do they seem interested in any sort of negotiations: their attitude is really one of 'don't worry it's only a customer'.

What worries me is this. One possible outcome, given that I don't trust Vodafone, is that I'll put the phone in a drawer, remove the battery and SIM card, possibly photograph the three separately to prove it, and just leave it until the contract expires. Meanwhile I'd get a cheap PAYG phone to use.

Let's say I do this, and meanwhile the phone that's sitting in a drawer gets signed up for one of these services. Even if I and the retired vicar who was the subject of a Telegraph article in January are the only people who have been affected by this, it is apparent that somebody could sign a phone up for one of these services without any intervention from the customer. The scammers would send a text to the phone which was lying in a drawer, and of course nobody would ever see the text nor be able to respond to it because the phone wouldn't actually be in use. So they would assume consent to use the service and they would continue to charge me. That's not a robust approach to payment

  • Thanks Lee for posting and for showing an interest.

I've had a further discussion with customer services and reached a resolution of sorts: it falls short of what I'd hoped for but still represents significant progress from where I was yesterday, and I need to move on for my own sake as much as anything else.

There remains a huge problem with the way that the mobile industry as a whole deals with unauthorised payments being added to customers' bills, and the ease with which it's possible to put through such payments fraudulently.

Vodafone have already stopped that number. I believe by posting it you've probably made them change it.
  • I have made a post in my own thread but in hindsight I probably should have just posted here. Oh well.

I signed up on Vodafone.co.uk, for the £19.80, SIM-only 12 month contract plan.

I've just checked my bill and the price has come up as being £22 a month. This isn't the price I agreed to pay when I joined.

    I'd like this resolved ASAP.

Edit: 11497842 is the reference number.

It's official - Which? has confirmed from an independent survey that it's the worst mobile phone company, read here:

    http://www.uswitch.com/broadband/news/2015/09/bt_talktalk_and_vodafone_among_worst_for_customer_service/

I guess we always knew this, but it's good to get a confirmation from Which? as well as OFCOM
  • I had an issue with Vodafone credits to the account, always messes up and I end up ringing time again each month. Finally sorted after 3 months of calling.
Not sure how they communicate dept to dept but nothing is ever noted down.
  • I am having a nightmare with vodafone porting my number over, keep getting false promises from their online chat. Have submitted the online WRT form as recommended number 11501018 . I will give them until Wednesday and if nothing heard back then it will be getting returned to the store on Thursday. Not happy
