This is just taking the total and utter p***. Anyone that has 1 click enabled, or even through the check out process, have you noticed it says:

£4.48 for Guaranteed by 1PM delivery next day...

City Link don't offer guaranteed by 1PM so it's MOST CERTAINLY , RM Special Delivery... So let me get this straight

we're paying £49 a year...for guaranteed next day unlimited 'FREE' deliveries, promised to be delivered next day... yet we actually need to pay £4.48 to get it by 1pm ... PER ITEM...

WHAT ON EARTH ARE WE PAYING THEM FOR THEN?!?!? I don't want my stuff 1st class delivery...If I wanted that I would just go to Play or John Lewis or something...

I want my service!!! I loved it last year... otherwise, I want my money back and a big fat apology letter.

Anyways, this is the e-mail I'm about to send to them ... If anyone wants to send it too, please do! They need to know that they're rattling the cage of more than one angry customer!

    Dear Sir/Madam

I would like to bring to your attention a breach of contract on your part of your 'Prime' membership service. This service is advertised as being unlimited guaranteed next working day deliveries for the duration of contract on 'prime- eligible products'. It has come to my attention however that Amazon are dispatching goods purchased since December 2010 via Royal Mail 1st Class Delivery. Royal Mail have clearly stated on the FAQ section of their 1st class delivery service that "Although we aim to deliver mail the next working day, we cannot guarantee delivery times." You are therefore in breach of contract by falsely claiming a guaranteed next working day delivery service where your appointed courier/delivery company is unable to fulfil such claim.

Amazon, throughout 2010 have dispatched items using 'Royal Mail Special Delivery' which guaranteed a next working day arrival of goods. Larger items were sent using City-Link and were too dispatched for delivery the next working day. So far, Amazon have not contacted Prime customers to notify of any significant change to terms and conditions of the service (if any). I would like to remind you that under the Supply of Goods and Services Act 1982, you are contractually obligated to provide the advertised 'Prime' service. Should you not provide a satisfactory explanation as to why goods are being dispatched using Royal Mail standard 1st class delivery as a pose to a guaranteed next-day delivery method, and rectify all issues raised within this e-mail, then please presume this as a statutory 7-day notice of cancellation of my Prime service and request for an immediate and full refund. I must also point out to you that, I have read your full terms and conditions of the Prime membership service and understand all terms fully, however, I have not been receiving the service as advertised and it is for this reason that I feel you are in breach of contract. Please provide a response within seven days, otherwise I remain with no option but to notify the relevant trade-regulatory bodies.

    Yours Faithfully,

    ---

I'm still  ... I WANT Prime, I NEED Prime...It's like a drug for impatience and they're taking it away.... ARGH

    Hopefully they sort themselves out!!!!!

Before sending that actually...I've just had a look again, and this is what their 'fine print' says:
    The Fine Print

Please visit the Amazon Prime Terms and Conditions.
One-Day delivery applies only to items marked as Amazon Prime eligible on product detail pages. If the item's product detail page does not include this marking, it is not eligible for One-Day delivery.
One-Day delivery applies only to items sold by Amazon.co.uk via our website and does not apply to products purchased at Amazon.com, Amazon.de, Amazon.fr, Amazon.co.jp, Amazon.ca or any other website operated by Amazon.co.uk, its affiliates or third-party merchants accessible from our site. One-Day delivery does not apply to any items purchased through Amazon.co.uk Marketplace unless otherwise stated.
Amazon.co.uk does not guarantee One-Day delivery of products within the estimated transit time or by the estimated delivery date. For Express delivery and Evening delivery guarantees please see their respective terms and conditions.
If your order contains other items that are not eligible for One-Day delivery, we will automatically split your order. We will dispatch the items eligible for One-Day delivery and dispatch ineligible items as soon as they become available, subject to the appropriate delivery cost.
    There are no Sunday deliveries.
Regional holidays count as national holidays and both are exempt from One-Day delivery calculations.
One-Day delivery is not available for portions of Scotland, Wales, Northern Ireland, Isles (including Shetlands, Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey), Cornwall, Northumberland, PO Boxes and BFPO addresses. Click here to see a list of postcodes that are NOT eligible for One-Day delivery.
One-Day delivery does not apply in the event of service interruptions or failures caused by events beyond Amazon.'s control.
Items may ship using a variety of methods, both air and ground.

So it says it DOESN'T Guarantee it?

I could SWEAR TO GOD just a few months ago it said 'GUARANTEED'...

did they just change their terms and conditions without telling anybody?!
    what con artists!!

=/ that's weird, I'm pretty sure too that it used to say guaranteed! And that on larger items (or stuff they would send with city link) had the option of guaranteed by 1pm for an extra amount as deanos said... :\ or is it just the fact that last year all of the orders WERE guaranteed and all did turn up so didn't notice...?

I think its a case of folks were used to Amazon sending everything on a next day service
so they just got into a mindset that prime was a next day service

I got this response from them
    Hello,

Thank you for contacting Amazon.co.uk with your enquiry.

My name is Ravi and I work in the Customer Escalation Team in Amazon.co.uk.

From your e-mail, I understand that you have not yet received your order. Please accept my sincere apologies in this matter.

Further to your e-mail I understand that you are concerned about the Amazon Prime One-Day delivery.

Amazon Prime is a membership program that gives you and your family fast and unlimited One-Day delivery for eligible purchases.

For the Amazon Prime eligible items which are not eligible for One-Day delivery, we send these items by Free First Class delivery.

You can find the above information in the following link :

    http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/help/customer/display.html/ref=hp_ln_dd_prm/?nodeId=200182130

Rest assured that we send all Amazon Prime eligible items by One-Day delivery. Only the Amazon Prime eligible items which are not eligible for One-Day delivery, are sent by Free First Class delivery.

All the items are ordered were Eligible for Prime Delivery and that is the option I chose. I can't be bothered to reply to them as they don't understand when I do, they just start taking about something else.

I spoke to Amazon today regarding this issue. I sent them a very basic email along the lines of:
I am paying for Amazon Prime Delivery. You are sending my items First Class. This is unacceptable.

The bloke at Amazon was very nice, but basically told me that my items were sent by One Day delivery. This simply isn't the case. I have nowhere to go now - how do we take this any further? I'm deeply unhappy but no-one at Amazon is listening!!!

I always thought amazon had great customer service, but now they seem unable to actually answer a question. They just quote some standard line and think that's enough. Maybe prime is being phased out. I won't be extending my subscription in May, and I bet there are a lot of other people thinking the same. What's the point?
  • From the Royal mail website.
If I post my First Class item early in the morning, is it guaranteed to get there the next day?

Although we aim to deliver mail the next working day, we cannot guarantee delivery times. We recommend our Special Delivery™ 9.00am service or Special Delivery™ Next Day if you want to guarantee next day arrival.

I wonder how Amazon would react if all their Prime customers sent them a letter stating that when their membership is due for renewal, they would aim to get the payment to them when it was due but couldn't guarantee that it would actually get there on time.
