Amazon prime delivery method has yours changed recently ?

I wonder how much money Amazon have lost this Christmas by over-relying on Royal Mail?
A lot less than it would have cost them to use another carrier, sadly, and they know that. What's less easy for them to judge, though, is the damage being done to Amazon's reputation by these delays.
I used to buy pretty much everything from Amazon, using Prime, in the certain knowledge that it would arrive next day. Now it doesn't I'm far less inclined to use them.0 -
I had three orders which didn't arrive in time for Xmas, so I refused delivery (as instructed by Amazon) when they did turn up, as I had already bought replacement gifts in the shops. Amazon had refunded me, so lost those sales, plus whatever it cost them for delivery.

Who would you have had them use then?0 -
Well I noticed previious years they used a mixture of Royal Mail and another carrier - think it may have been HDN?
This year it seemed to be only Royal Mail, just when the weather was bad and things seemed to be going downhill at Royal Mail anyway. I have never had things arrive too late for Christmas until this year.0 -

They've been using various companies depending on the size/value of the items.
Unfortunately iirc at least one of the other companies when it ran into a backlog reportedly dumped a lot of it's packages on RM (I think they decided it was cheaper to pay that cost than hire more staff etc).
I'm sure we had Amazon stuff arrive by both Fed Ex and HDNL in addition to RM between the end of November and January.0 -
That's because HDN (or HDNL to give them their proper abbreviation ) are generally a bunch of charlatans.Well I noticed previious years they used a mixture of Royal Mail and another carrier - think it may have been HDN?
Sorry to use such strong words but HDNL lied about delivering an item to me on Xmas Eve. I have all the emails, screenshots and witnesses to prove it.
After phoning up Amazon the driver turned up on 27th (bank holiday) with a parcel he had apparently delivered on Xmas Eve at 6.28pm. I should add 5 people were in the house and 3 of them, including myself, were near the front door. Plus 3 of the next door neighbours where in.
There there is one of my friends' parcels that hasn't been delivered since November from Habitat. Habitat can't get through to HDNL and neither can my friend. And yes it was an Xmas present.
Then there is the long thread on this forum about HDNL other dubious practises.
I suspect Amazon got loads less complaints about RM so chose to use them over HDNL. Unfortunately this time RM couldn't cope either.I'm not cynical I'm realistic
(If a link I give opens pop ups I won't know I don't use windows)0 -
The CD I ordered which was "get it by Saturday" arrived today, Royal Mail 1st Class with the word "Prime Large Letter" printed between the 2 barcodes.
Complaining works as they have given me back the money

Seems Amazon have changed the text on there prime pages it used to say
"Please note: A signature will be required on delivery of your parcel" which would indicate either Special Del/Courier a next day service
it now says
Please note: A signature may be required on delivery of your parcel
If you google the word Amazon One-day delivery and look at the cached page0 -
Here's what I find very confusing and annoying. When I place an order on Amazon which is Prime compatible I have two options. One is "first class 2 business days" and the second is "expedited delivery 1 business day". In my first year of Amazon Prime absolutely everything I ordered was either via RM Special Delivery or Citylink 24, and I live in Northern Ireland. I renewed my Prime account in December and since then NOTHING has been sent via Special delivery. I am certain they've changed their terms in some way. I called them yesterday to complain and the guy couldn't understand what the problem was. I said it again and again. FIRST CLASS IS NOT PREMIUM DELIVERY!!! He put me on hold for about 15 minutes then came back and told me it was a computer glitch. Personally, I think he pulled that one out of thin air.
I find it very frustrating that we Prime members are not getting the service we pay for. There are plenty of websites that offer free first class post so why the hell would I want to pay Amazon £50 a year for it? If this is all true then I will be expecting Amazon to refund my Prime fee for this year. We're not getting anything above standard serviceso what's the point?0 -
I have just noticed that, it now says 2 business days , but then there is the option of one day delivery, but they still sent it First Class
Delivery Options: ( Learn more)
Choose your Prime Logo delivery speed:
FREE First Class (up to 2 business days)
FREE One-Day Delivery : get it tomorrow, Friday, January 14
£4.49/item Express Delivery : get it guaranteed by 1pm tomorrow, Friday, January 140 -
I mentioned that a few days ago deanos.
Listing the same delivery service twice, but giving one of them a "get it next day" tag and the other one as "2 business days" when they are fully aware that whichever option you choose will more than likely result in the package going exactly the same way is at best dodgy trading, and at worst, downright lying. (or to put it another way, fraud).
Why don't Amazon realise something.
Even the service provider they are using for the majority of prime deliveries state the method they will be using that is not a guaranteed next day service, so for them to clearly state "Get it next day" is wrong and it should actually read "You may get it next day. Unlikely, but you never can tell"0
