:jI claimed £1,200 from Lloyds TSB in April. After getting a couple of letters from their solicitors and fighting all the way I finally had an offer last week to repay what I was asking for. I haven't seen the money yet, but I do have a solicitors letter promising it to me, so I am sure I will get it fairly shortly.

The reason I am praising them is that after admitting defeat, one of the conditions of the charge refund is I must meet with my personal bank manager this week to sort out the borrowing on the account and to generate a loan or a larger overdraft limit to keep the account in order. Fair play to them - they get to keep a customer, they get to charge me (legitimate) interest for my overdraft and apart from the £1,200 they have to repay me, they have actually come out of this without losing anything. A bank that sees sense.... now there's a thought!

Good outcome, but every case is diffrerent, unless it;s banking by numbers!

my sister recently told me her claim wasnt all hunky dory.

Prior to her claim her bank was letting her off on various things like using debit card when not enough money but clearing payment etc. She had a 4 figure overdraft and both her and partner had cheque garuantuee cards.

They did the claim and initially things were fine, then both cards got swallowed up in ATM machines and they were later told both debit cards, cheque book and overdraft facilities withdrawn immiediate affect and the bank admitted it was because they claimed back the charges. My sister still does have the bank account but now is very basic with only a book and online banking no card not even a cashcard.

    The bank is HSBC.

Also her credit rating is wrecked the rating on the account (which the bank allows businesses etc. to see) is now black.

Luckily she has another bank account also with HSBC but isnt affected without it she would have been really messed up.
  • Hi
I Have Just Claimed My Money Back Off Natwest Before I Sent My Offer Acceptance I Spoke To Natwest Who Informed Me My Account Would Remain The Same O/d Aswell, Hope This Helps
  • I have just won 2 claims against NatWest for £541 and £1618 respectively. Both accounts are now closed because apparently our running of the accounts breached their terms and conditions!!! I am now waiting for them to send me a cheque for the 2 amounts, could be 28 days!!!
Thank goodness I've still got my Halifax account, I claimed and won £351 from them but they didn't change my account.....yet!!

I would complain to the Financial Ombudsman if its from reclaiming your charges, they will pay you compensation and its something around £250 an account from reading the threads ;)

I'm worried about claiming charges. I have a £20,000 loan, £6000 Credit card. If the bank kick me out after claiming back charges can they make me pay back the loan immediately/ and or Credit card. I'm currently trying to move credit card and loan just in case but wondered if this has happened to anyone else?

No they can't do that, the loan and credit cards are covered by seperate terms and conditions,

Yep !! In just the same way as you reclaim for an active account. If you can't remember your account number etc, just supply them with your full name, address and date of birth and they shouldn't have a problem finding it for you :)

  • Hello ..
I just thought I would let you know we kind of won getting charges back from Natwest .

They offered £2,500 to settle and we accepted.:j

a week later they sent a letter saying we have 28 days to find an alternative bank account as they feel that communications had broken down ! !!!
    Cheeky eh ?

Faxed back a reply and by post saying we did not agree and all that ... still not had the cheque yet , I believe they said we owed a small amount on the overdraft and they would take that off.
We also have credit cards from Natwest and they have called a couple of times for my husband when he's been out . I have a nasty feeling that they might try to get the balance from the cards from us as well (visa cards) .. Are they able to do this ?

Anybody else had this with Natwest ?

    Cheers ,

    ;)
