No we are not, we are talking about Wales also, where Welsh is spoken as well, which brings me to the next point.

Don't signs have to bi-lingual in Wales? And what happens if the person driving doesn't speak English or can't read, where does your alleged contract lie then ?

    Yn union;) [I think];)

  • OK, the UK then - where English is still the Official Language (except for the untamed wastes of Welshness ;) )

No reason for any sign to be in any other language though.

Now come on to satisfy the diversity and equality brigade the signs will need to be in at least: Welsh, Urdu, Bengali, Punjabi, French, Italian, German, Spanish, Polish, Romanian, Albanian, Mandarin Chinese, Somali, Bantu, Africaans......................................................................

I think the point being if the sign is the basis of a contract then both parties involved should be able to understand it.
It doesn't in fact bother me as I do not believe it does form any sort of contract.

Agreed but the acceptance of the contract that the PPC's quote is the reading of the sign.;)

It points out another weakness in their system. Remember I said "should it not be available"

So if the driver is functionally illiterate, and yes people who cannot read and write have passed driving tests, they could not have been deemed to have accepted a contract, as it would have to be read out to them for them to agree........Soz pkigng co cud nut rd ur sgnz..

Interesting thread and some useful points made by many, including PPC guy.

But the problem with your whole industry IMHO is that you falsely perpetuate the idea that you are issuing 'tickets' for some sort of 'contravention'. The BPA couldn't defend that position on Watchdog in the Summer when they were asked to explain why PPC bogus PCNs look 'even more official' then real ones...it is 'passing off' at its worst. And don't get me started on the lies that the threatograms contain!

Years ago someone must have strated the first PPC, what a bright idea they must have thought - 'I know I will copy real parking tickets and slap them on windscreens and people will pay me similar amounts that Councils charge'. And people do!

Who on earth would have believed that so many people fall for this craapp?

And who would believe that supposedly business-orientated retailers would think that issuing threats to their paying customers can ever be a good thing?!

Sorry PPC guy, IMHO retailers just need barriers and they will realise that soon enough.
PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).

The thing is you go to many countries and the signs are in multiple languages, so it could be argued that even council tickets could be argued against as no contract could be made if the person driving is not even speaking the language, by the way its just an observation, and in regards to Welsh its mandatory that signs and official paperwork must be either bilingual or available, think my next ppc invoice I will ask for it in welsh ;)
Excel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?

Well as i have already said i do offer car park management. I go to sites and fill pot holes. I got an collect litter. I clear snow and ice. I paint white lines (well contract people).
I also operate some P+D machines. I would rather do this than do any enforcement at all because as i have said enforcement is hassle. That also said there does need to be something people can do about the drivers who blatantly pay no respect to the land owner and park without consent.
The majority (i assume) on here are haivn ghtier views for either getting a ticket or getting on the band wagon) But do any of you stop to think of the other side? the landowner has paid for that land and he can do anything he wants within the law. If he wants nobody to park there then who are people to choose otherwise?
