I cant work out if it's the companies themselves being slow OR the delivery people.
One example,i ordered one thing from New Look,my friend ordered the same thing about two hours later, she received hers last WEdnesday from HDNL and i received mine today!
We live near each other in the North West of England,i can't work out why some items are getting delivered quickly and others aren't.0 -
I ordered something from Amazon on the 1st Dec, it said dispatched same day but estimated arrival 14th dec which is today! Still no sign of it. Whats worse I am in Milton Keynes and there is an Amazon depo the size of ten football pitches about 1.5 miles from my house. Grrrrrrrrrr.0

I have no doubt there is a big effort put in by postmen (and women) at this time of year, however when I get a dispatch email saying "sent by Royal Mail" I shake my head and wish I hadn't bothered ordering. Over the past three months they have lost seven of my parcels, (three were replacements for the first item sent). Ordered from four different retailers, value of £450+ in total, only thing in common is RM. I expect these will never turn up now. Finished up making a spreadsheet to keep track of when I should inform the retailer of non arrival etc, what had been refunded, charged, outstanding. This was way before any bad weather. The issue was reported to the sorting office and RM customer services who really didn't take it very seriously.
Without taking away from the good work the majority do at Royal Mail this time of year, I can understand where the negative comments are coming from.0 -
I am sorry that you have experienced bad service but I have to defend RM. I am an ebay/internet addict and have bought and sold many many items and none have gone astray. Most arrive within a day or two.Christmas is a difficult busy time of year for all delivery firms and the snow has added to their problems. The roads here are clear now but the pavements are sheet ice so very very treacherous and very hard (and time consuming)to walk on.:j I love bargains:jI love MSE0

That's the thing, I've had hundreds of parcels delivered, fair few sent and never had any major problems. I'd say maybe one in every sixty amazon items by Royal Mail didn't arrive prior to these problems I've had, Amazon would just replace which always arrived.
I completely agree about road conditions, I wouldn't even have attempted to go out on them last week unless I really had to. We had to a couple of times and were lucky to get home.
A watch I ordered for my Grandpa from Amazon mid September has only just been received last week, first item lost, as was the replacement, was given a refund. Ordered again when I placed a larger christmas order hoping it would come in one big box, surely this couldn't be lost. It never showed either. Eventually the replacement for this arrived, problem there was one of the items was now out of stock and couldn't be supplied before Christmas, so I've had to track one down elsewhere.
I see most of the items now sent as "tracked" do arrive.0 -
We're in Edinburgh, and I'm still waiting on my Thorntons order which was placed on November 28th! Everything else has made it through (I've done all my Christmas shopping online) so we're just waiting on Thorntons, and a couple of recent play.com orders.
C'mon Thorntons, get your butts into gear before the snow hits again on Thursday!"...Our greatest fear is not that we are inadequate,
but that we are powerful beyond measure".

yep, me too - and I don't live in Scotland. We've had completely clear pavements and roads here since Saturday, and I've had Royal Mail letters, but no parcels at all (although I did get a parcel delivered from another carrier on Friday). I'm waiting for one amazon delivery, plus 2 from ebay, all despatched through Royal Mail, at least 2 weeks ago.0
