all the snow we had has now turned to sheets of ice and we still have huge piles of it where it has all been scooped to the sides of the roads more forecast for this weekend not looking forward to it :(

  • Well, I'd like to thank the posties for the hard work they've been putting in - also the local courier drivers.
I don't think a lot of people appreciate how bad the weather has been for the last few weeks - our road has still got 5 inches of compacted ice in places - and it's no one's fault. The gritter has been up & down it, people have cleared their drives, bits of the road and all the channels to the drains, but we've just run out of space to put the snow & ice. There are also now holdups because the council has to get JCBs and lorries in to cart the mixture of snow, grit and salt heaps to the docks.
Things are getting moving again, but of course there will be long delays with the huge volume of goods being transported. Personally, I don't want anyone to risk their safety for a few presents...

I'm still waiting on about 20 items now! This morning I got an Amazon delivery that was sent on the 3rd and had been at the Glasgow Mail Centre since the 6th!

I'm waiting on a John Lewis order - ordered the 8th for del 9th - I knew it wouldn't get here on time but I've had no word from them at all. It says
"despatched" when I log on to my account, but no idea who it's with or where. It's my son's main present so really hope it gets here!

The other items I'm waiting on were all sent the middle of Nov so I'm assuming they are at the bottom of the pile!

We still have snow here - the main roads are clear but our street is like an ice rink and every car that comes down it gets stuck! The pavements are hard, impacted ice so no way we can get out (plus my 5yr old has a broken leg at the mo so really not a good idea to try and venture out with him lol!). I am going just a little bit stir crazy though!

So are websites actually blocking orders or are they letting the orders through and just not delivering straight away?

welli placed an order on Amazon just now
went though as normal with an estimated 18th Dec delivered date with supersaver
Delivery company Parcelforce, which previously stopped taking new deliveries, is now delivering to Scotland again but has brought its final delivery date back to Friday December 17.

seems PF are now back up and running
