Amazon Delivery Delay

Hi there - first time here
I placed an order with Amazon to be delivered on Dec 3rd and by the 13th still hadn't received it. Got in touch with Amazon from Dec 6th etc etc and no news. Kept on to the delivery company (HDNL) as it had been received at my local depot on the 4th and hadn't moved or attempted delivery.
Anyhoos, on the 13th I recieved an email from Amazon saying my order had been sent out for... another item exactly the same with a £0.00 charge!
This was delivered on the 18th and then yesterday my original order was delivered (finally). I didn't place the the replacement order nor agree to it and have not discussed what happens if I recieve two deliveries. What to do? Will Amazon expect me to send it back or what??
Also, this shows that if you contact them enough (daily phone calls to local HDNL depot plus a formal complaint, emails to Amazon evey other day) something will give sooner or later - but it may be your sanity that gives first!
Good luck to everyone else in getting your items before Christmas x0 -
Last year I ordered an Xbox from Amazon with 'Guaranteed Christmas Delivery'. It was mailed with CityLink. Both CityLink and Amazon assured me it was out for delivery on Christmas Eve.
I spent the whole day sitting by the window fretting. Surprise surprise it didn't turn up... CityLink and Amazon had both lied to me.
I had to dash to Asda half an hour before closing and buy another one.
Turns out the word 'Guaranteed' just means they'll refund your postage if it doesn't arrive on time.
This year some friends of mine bought three graphic novels unavailable from local stores. All three have been sitting in a distribution centre for five days (and counting). That's inefficiency, pure and simple.
My advice: bookmark this thread and come back to it in November 2011. Vote with your feet. If you continue to shop with Amazon you can expect them to continue to use awful couriers (CityLink are definitely worse than Royal Mail by the way) and treat you with contempt. As long as your money is in their bank account they don't care.0 -
The item that I ordered with expedited delivery, estimated to be here on the 14th or 15th Dec has just arrived :j
I decided to call Amazon a couple of days ago regarding the parcel due on the 8th and they immediately resent the items using City Link, estimated to be here tomorrow or Thurs. If it doesn't get here in time for Christmas, it does at least have tracking this time so I can keep an eye on it.0 -
Not all RM stuff goes on the same van, or even the same route - one route may be completely clear and you get stuff in 24 hours, another route may have backlogs at every office and stuff may get completely stuck due to road closures or vehicles not making up hills.
Unfortunately in this weather what was a good route 4-5 hours ago may become impassable by the time the next van goes through it, which means at best a van might have to reroute (missing planned connections), at worst might get snowed into that area for the next few days.
I realise the weather is a problem, BUT M&S obviously value its customers more than Amazon, as it's using private courier to deliver it's parcels (mine was delivered yesterday). It obviously can't rely on RM.Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0 -
Phoned Amazon today about my guaranteed Kindle delivery only for them to try to get me to cancel it and stating the they can no longer guarantee it. Do they not get the guarantee bit. You can't just take it away when it doesn't suit.0

If you look on the CityLink website it has a list of the depots who have a backlog. Some have up to 5 days back log, which I guess means that "next day" delivery will be delivered 5 days later??
I ordered some stuff from Amazon at the beginning of December, eventually Amazon conceded that it was lost and ordered me a "next day" replacement ( a week ago)...
My original order from 3 weeks ago turned up via RM yesterday and no sign of the next day delivery from CityLink!!0 -
Still no delivery - Amazon I are hope you are reading these posts - We are NOT happy!Me transmitte sursum, caledoni0
