Amazon Delivery Delay

  • I think amazon have behaved terribly during the poor weather. It's been obvious up here in scotland that the couriers are sunk beyond trace, yet until recently Amazon have been stating a 3 day delay - when in fact it's been several weeks delay for most folks since november. I'm not blaming the weather or the couriers, I just feel let down by amazon lying about delivery delays and failing to take any action.. The post office on the other hand have been outstanding.

I am waiting for a parcel from Amazon which should have been delivered by Royal Mail on the 14th December. I have been tracking it and last Saturday the tracking said it was out for delivery, but I have still not received it. We now have snow in Bristol so god knows when I shall receive it.

if it tracks as on delivery then at least its at your local DO
probably ran out of time or the address/area was/is inaccessible

I am waiting to receive an order I placed with amazon on 12th Dec. It was dispatched on 14th in 3 separate bundles, the first from Scotland nr Glasgow with an estimated del date of 18th. It took 4 days to get from there to royal mail centre at Warrington yesterday then managed to get to Wakefield in just 24 hours despite many roads in the Manchester area being closed due to heavy snow and ice and crossing the pennines.

The second was dispatched by amazon from Bedfordshire on the 15th, with a del date of 20th and arrived at the National Distribution centre (which is either Birmingham or Coventry) just 7 hours later but has been sat there since.

We ordered a parcel on ebay back on 30th November which coincided with the first lot of snow and that sat at the Coventry parcelforce centre for a week (inc 1 day staff strike) despite being 24 hour guaranteed. Then got to us within usual time frame once it got to Rotherham which also had about 18 inches of snow that week.

I simply can't work out what to expect, there seem to be so many variables affecting the deliveries. Maybe the Coventry centre is simply busier than others? I've decided now that if they get here, great if not I'll give everyone an iou - non of it is a main pressie - but not knowing either way is frustrating.

    Merry Xmas:rudolf:

This was posted today on TIM. May possibly be of help.

Customers waiting for Amazon orders can have a replacement sent if they are unable to track their delivery.
Amazon 'Super Saver Delivery' orders are delivered by Royal Mail. While many of these orders are trackable, others are not – leaving some customers in the dark about when their order will arrive.
What many customers who ordered in plenty of time do not realise, however, is that if they call Amazon, it will check the status of the order and if it cannot track the package it will send out a replacement and upgrade delivery at no extra cost.

Not all RM stuff goes on the same van, or even the same route - one route may be completely clear and you get stuff in 24 hours, another route may have backlogs at every office and stuff may get completely stuck due to road closures or vehicles not making up hills.

Unfortunately in this weather what was a good route 4-5 hours ago may become impassable by the time the next van goes through it, which means at best a van might have to reroute (missing planned connections), at worst might get snowed into that area for the next few days.
  • EXPEDITED: accelerated; arranged, executed or dispatched quickly or more efficiently.

Well my expedited order which was placed on the 14th, dispatched on the 15th was meant to arrive at the latest on the 17th has still not arrived today (20th). Why? Royal mail. I have no idea what type of RM service they used, but they can't track it.....

Amazon have re-created the order with an estimate of.... wait for it.... 21st to 29th !!!!!!

If that doesnt tell you something I dont know what does :eek::rotfl::rotfl:
  • Good (or not so good?) to know we're not the only ones...
We are waiting on 5 Amazon items ordered between 5th and 9th Dec. Strange that Play and Tesco and e-bay and also the Amazon marketplace orders we placed since then have ALL been delivered - and Play and Tesco (boohiss) also give free delivery as standard, all came via RM (thanks to my lovely postie). Amazon have got something wrong - is it their sourcing or their couriers? Will avoid using them in future, unless they're violently cheaper...
  • We ordered on 6th, paid for delivery, 1st class to get it quicker, they tried to deliver yesterday, Sun 11th, refused delivery as we needed it for Sat 10th! Will now have to reclaim the money.

Personally I would have paid for an upgraded service! First Class SHOULD get to you in 1-2 working days but it is not guaranteed.

No one is arguing that there has been bad weather it's how Amazon is dealing with it that's the problem....
I'm waiting for a parcel ordered on 6/12 despatched 7/12 but no tracking number so have no idea where the parcel is... they emailed me to say if I haven't received it by the 21st then I can have a free replacement which wouldn't arrive by Christmas or a refund, which also prob won't be here by Christmas!!! I have emailed back that I want the replacement now and at the lower price they are now selling it at. I think they are concentrating on getting the new orders out in time for Christmas rather than working out where the delayed ones are! They had the gall tp send me an email telling me if I order now they can guarrantee I will get it for Christmas
Not Happy as have never had problems withem before!!!

With respect, what else do you expect them to do? They have dispatched your order to you and if it a small, not valuable item it would have just been sent First Class unless you wanted to pay extra postage.

If you haven't had problems with Amazon before, you know how good their service is so why have a go at them for something that is outside their control?
