  • I'm waiting for citylink to deliver a next day package, it got to my local depot on time and has not moved since.

I tried to ring them to arrange picking it up, but all you get is a recorded anouncement saying due to high call volumes they cant answer the phone then you get cut off. Sent them an email...no reply.

when the customer needs some reassurance what do these courier firms do? retreat into their bunkers to avoid customer flack.

They are not even bothering now to put estimated delay times on their website.

I will avoid all retailers who use the couriers who have managed this crisis badly next year, it's the only way these couriers will get their act together next time.
  • I am waiting for an item ordered on 7th Dec at ASDA direct for collection in store. My order says expected delivery 11th Dec. Also says fully despatched. I am advised on the original order to wait for an email or text message to say pickup in store is ready. Yesterday I rang the store and got 3 different departments and then cut off. I rang ASDA contact number all day long and got the message ' your contact has terminated the call' although I never spoke to anyone. Last evening I spent 25 minutes on hold. Then at midnight I got a recorded voice mail ' Do not expect delivery before Christmas'. I have every intention of not accepting this parcel as I am so angry with ASDA. They have ,of course, taken payment for these items and I will have to pay my account off before I get the parcel or I will incur charges. What a faff! I could have bought this stuff in store in the first place except I'm 10 miles away and busy.
    But ASDA sucks for me!

We are waiting for four parcels via Royal Mail. One is from Amazon that is tracked and has been sitting at the local sorting office 10 mins away. We have had two signed for delivereies to the house whilst it has been there. Some joined up thinking needed. No delivery at all today which shows they are not putting on the staff that are needed.

I can't go and collect as I don't have a card as they have not tried to deliver.

The other two items were sent first class. One item is food which will go off and of course no compensation. The other has been replaced by the company (Grand Illusions) who took pity on us.

I guess the answer is no online shopping if the weather is bad or with companies who use the Royal Mail.

Just thought I'd share my experience with you all - there is still hope!

I placed an order yesterday morning (before 9am) online at Debenhams' sale. (Got an absolute bargain thanks to the codes n vouchers guys). Some of my items (5 out of the 14) were despatched yesterday, and have just arrived on my doorstep. So things are moving out there.

It was sent via Hermes, and I live in the North East of Lincolnshire. (No snow, just ice here).

I have just received a DVD despatched by HMV on the 21st - but still not got two other items ordered from them despatched 6th & 7th December. Where's the confused smiley when you need it ? :(

  • Just finished wrapping the last pressie that arrived from Fragrance Direct after being posted on Tuesday 7th December. I've done lots of shopping online this year and the weather has given me a few more grey hairs worrying about all the orders getting delivered. The wine is now open and I'm ready and waiting for the chaos tomorrow. :xmassign: to you all.

Hmmm, ordered from Amazon and SweatyBetty on the 22nd. Both stated items would arrive by Christmas (not that it matters, they were both sale buys and for me :D) But neither have arrived. Not sure if they were with RM or not but don't think they are. Anyone know for sure if DPD delivery have anything to do with them? The reason I ask if the delivery courier for them stole my mail and I've had to call the police. Am hoping he is not stil at it and they are still on their way to me!
  • There will be no collections or deliveries of mail on 25th 26th, 27th and 28th December.
RM Services will resume on Wednesday 29th December.

I ordered a dvd for my mum on 8th December from Amazon. It was dispatched on 10th but still has not arrived. It was sent by Royal Mail but no tracking number given. I've emailed Amazon but no reply as yet.

We ordered other stuff from Ebay from Hong Kong later than that and it managed to get through in time for Christmas!

Won't be using Amazon next year!
