Ripped off at Starbucks and Debenhams!

So we decided to go into Lincoln yesterday to do the dreaded Christmas shopping. AAARRRGGGHHH
Went for a coffee in Starbucks, saw a poster with a picture of a Latte and a piece of ginger cake "daily offering, ginger cake latte" priced at £2.99, normal latte is £2.10 so thought that was OK for a latte and cake. But when it arrived there was no cake, just a ginger cake flavour latte!!!!
It tasted horrible and complaining got us ignored!
Then to Debenhams who had signs everywhere with special reductions, bought a mans coat and later realised we had been charged £99 instead of £79.80. Queued up again to complain and get it sorted.
Later we went back to Debenhams to buy a couple of womens jumpers which were priced at £14.40 foolishly we didn't check the receipt before leaving and when home realised we had been charged £18 for each jumper.
We are nearly 20 miles from Lincoln so will have to go back to sort it!
Just so angry that you cannot trust any shops not to try to cheat you.

Or perhaps they've just made a few mistakes.

I hate this! i bought a cadburys wholenut chocolate bar, the picture on the front showed chocolate with separate wholenuts next to it, when i bought it and got it home i found they had actually put the nuts in the chocolate and weren't seperate.

They used to do the same with glasses of milk-disgusting malpractice.
This is an open forum, anyone can post and I just did !
  • So after Debenhams overcharged you once, you did not bother checking your receipt for your next purchase from the same shop until you got home??

I think that Starbucks *might* be engaging in a little false advertising, but surely anyone can just say "Oh, I thought I was getting a cake. Sorry I don't want this" and order something else? How exactly did they ignore you when you complained?

Wonder why anyone would think they were getting a cake?

The inability to read does not make a "rip-off"

The picture the OP saw had a picture of a piece of cake next to the coffee. I think a lot of people would assume that that meant the cake came with the coffee.

Do they not have writing in Starbucks, just pictures?

The clue is in the OP.
