Ripped off at Starbucks and Debenhams!

well, serves the Op right for using starbucks !!!
YUK - much prefer Costa myself - we have several Costas in Coventry and ALL the staff are lovely
I usually have a cappucino the - fancied something different, asked the member of staff what was in the tall glass in the picture - Caramel Latte she says
"ooh I'll have one of those please"
"medium or large" says she
"Ooh definitely large" says I
"just to let you know, the large caramel lattes come in a big cup- not the glass" she said
"fine" I said
funny how a little interaction answers all your questions !0 -
Yes we use Costa most but were in Lincoln and could only find Starbucks. There is no interaction with the staff, you place your order, pay and shuffle along to grab your order from the coffee machine area. Then it is hunt the milk and sugar!0

There are three Costas in Lincoln. One at the Odeon, one upstairs in Waterstones on the High Street, and one in the St. Marks area (near Lakeland and Argos). What part of "A whop bop-a-lu a whop bam boo" don't you understand?0 -
Can I just say that we have a lovely Starbucks (well its 30 miles away but its the nearest), they are all very lovely, just as the staff in Costa are, oh and the little cafe up the road.
I love gingerbread latte but I would hate it to come with cake!
I wouldnt be upset OP, just go with the flow, its Christmas.....0 -
It's definately barmy when companies have to specify what comes with your order isn't it
OP i'm not having a pop as when it's manic/your stressed etc little things can be an oversight
Have you looked through the argos catalogue lately.
It's barmy. TV stands for example - (does not include TV) - It's not rocket science yet were so wrapped up in a nanny state it's untrue
I seriously think this country and the majority of us brits lack some serious common sense in this day and age.If Adam and Eve were created first
.Does that mean we are all inbred0 -
Yes we will draw a line under it now. I am amazed how many comments there are about Starbucks and how few about Debenhams.
We had been to the DVLA and walked across the level crossing to the bottom of High Street when we fancied a coffee so went into Starbucks. I knew there was one near the Odeon but not the others thanks.0 -

Probably because Debenhams have had the greatest sale of the lot before Christmas and have saved me loads in great presents!! :T0 -
Cake would have been an extra £3 not 90p :P0

The poster says "Gingerbread Latte and Ginger Loaf Cake". And something like "perfect together" (this is from memory, I tend to be still asleep when I'm getting my morning coffee)
GB latte is something like £3.25 for a venti, as opposed to £2.70 for a "standard" venti latte (I don't do "small" - sorry, tall - coffees). And the cake is a couple of quid.
So getting a tall latte (GB or otherwise) and a piece of cake for £2.99 is a bargain. But you have to ask for what's on the poster.
There's no excuse for not getting what you want. You go in and ask for what you want. They repeat it back to you (in Starbucksian). They then call it out to the barista who repeats it back to them. The barista then calls it out to you when they deliver the drink at the other end of the bar.
If you go in and ask for "a cup of coffee", you'll be guided through the process. They'll find out what size you want. They'll find out if you want filter (drip), an americano or a milk-based one (cappucino, latte). If one of the first two, they'll ask if you want room for milk. And then they'll translate as above, and will ask if there's anything else they can get you today (at which point you ask for your cake etc)
In my case, I have a (very complex) standard order: Venti, 5 shot, sugar free vanilla, skimmed milk, extra hot latte (and yes, that's the order it goes on the cup: V, 5, SFV, N, XH, L). And I get it perfect every time. I also have a registered starbucks card cos with it you get syrups and extra shots free, amongst other things. We may not have it all together, but together we have it all
