My first child was born in 1992, does this still apply to me as I was on Maternity leave after he was born, then I returned to work?

    Thanks

It applies to anyone with a child, afaik. Doesnt matter if you were on maternity leave or working, it would have been given to the main earner in the house within their tax code. I still havent got round to asking for a claim form as I found out in my first call we have to contact my husbands tax office, must do that tomorrow.

    Thanks for the reply Tiff

Great news - not! My husband disappeared off the face of the earth back in 2002, so god knows how I could find out what his tax office was!

    Argggh!

You might still have a chance, when I called them I gave them my husbands NI number and asked which tax office he dealt with. They told me which office but said obviously they couldnt discuss his details with me without his permission. So, if you have his NI number you might be able to find out which office OR you could ask for the claim form, fill it in and take it from there.

Thanks for that Tiff, however, I wouldn't even know his NI Number, unfortunately!

This is all very easy to check without having to write letters, if you live in Scotland phone the Centre 1 number 0845 070 3703. I got a nice chap on the phone and asked if he could check if i received the allowance from 2001 onwards. Unfortunately I had...boo hoo but overall it was very easy for him to check back on his system and tell me.
