I think if you use this link you can find your local tax office

  • Hiya :)

I did this a few months back. I wrote a letter to my husbands tax office ( on wage slip) saying I wanted to claim the CHILD TAX CREDIT ALLOWANCE.

I gave both mine and my husbands national insurance numbers, paye reference and the dates of birth of our children.

Two weeks later a cheque arrived for £1100 or so..the two years allowance and interest on the amount.

I tried ringing before writing but as previous posters have stated, they don't really know what you're on about!!

I had my youngest child feb 01.I notices it gets paid from 4th april 01.My husband walked out on census saturday 28th april 01.However our wftc had just come through so I wasnt entitled to income support and ended up worse off after no school meals paying rent etc.I didnt work as a single parent.Am I entitled to this?
  • Okay, lets give it a whirl. I have just printed out a letter, whats the worse that can happen? They could say no I suppose but there is just a chance they may say yes!.....heres hoping!!

    Will keep you all posted!

ive sent my letter into the tax office as they said on the phone my tax code had not changed, so fingers crossed i might have good news as my daughter was born in may 2000.

Ive asked my ex partner if he has ever had a change in tax code and he said no, so it doesnt look like he ever claimed it either.
