I phoned them up today to check they got my letter, they said they are opening letters dated 9th feb as of today, so it's going to be 3-4 weeks before they even get to mine :(

I followed up my letter today of22nd Feb and told that it wasn't noted as received against my NH number and that they couldn't check my husbands as he wasn't here togive his permission for me to ask about it so will have to get him to ring when he gets in. The man on the phone did tell me though that it would probably be at least 5 weeks before it was even noted on the record that a letter had been received!

Oh well, I'm used to waiting. Started reclaiming bank charges 29/11 and still not resolved.

Cant remember when I sent my letter off now. Anyone received any money back yet?

Posted mine around 28th Feb and still waiting for any response
  • am a bit stuck, rang them up (not very helpful, rang 3 times, got 3 different replies) but the first bloke did mention that my husband had a higher tax code in march 2003. our son was born June 2002 so he said we got tax credit through his wage packet

but then after putting phone down i wondered what happened in the months between june 2002 and march 2003

when i rang back to find out, no one can help me cos either they dont know or i couldnt get my point across to them! grrrr

so has anyone been given the same answer as me, or been in same situation where child was born in 2002, but tax credit compensated for that in march 2003 leaving 8 months where it seems nothing was done...is this the bit that im trying to claim for?

hope this hasnt been confused...im confused!!!

If I was you, I would get your husband to write to your local tax office explaining that you don't believe the Children's Tax credit income relief was aplied to his tax code in ...(give dates) and quote his NI number. This is what I did and they sent me form 11CTC to complete.

I did try phoning up first but as you said a lot of the staff do not seem to know much about this. It may be more of a pain to write in than phone, but in the long run I think you will get a better answer. Good luck.
