Think they must be bogged down at mo as I sent letter 2nd week Feb too ....Sealed pot challenge 822
Jan - £176.66 :j0 -
As per my previous posts I wrote to local tax office claiming this allowance on 9th March, on 15th march I recived form 11ctc from them we I sent back same day.
I phoned local tax office today to make sure they had recived 11ctc back ok. Only to be told they have a 4 - 6 week back log of post that they are dealing with. Now this is where I am confused. I am beginning to think this is a standard line they are giving out as if they had such a back log, how come my first letter was answered in less than a week? Did I just get lucky and jump the post queue?!
Also at start of call the lady tried to refer me to the Tax credit office, I explained that it was the tax office who deal with this as form 11ctc said to return to local tax office. She went and checked and came back and said yes it had recently changed and I was correct it is the tax office who are now dealing with these claims. SO if you call and are referred to Tax credit people, stand your ground so speak and get your tax office to check that is correct.0 -
We applied a few years ago (saw the ads on the TV about it)
and all well and good, but then a year or so ago we got hit by a large Tax bill, as it was put down our DD was 1 year old at the time when she was actually 10 at the time and apparently the entitlement/code thingy was different, so we've spent ages paying back £X! We're not the only ones, as a neighbour had the same thing and guess what, her DD is the same age as ours!
We did write to the Tax office and see the C.A.B for help and advice, but it didnt make any difference.0 -

Maybe its worth you writing to your local tax office quoting your NI number (& husbands if relevant) and asking whether or not the childrens tax credit income relief for 2001-2002 & 2002-2003 was applied to your tax code and if not please could they organise any refund owning to you. They may then send you form 11ctc to fill out and you can take it from there.0 -
is the amount the same regardless of how many children you had at the time or do you get more the more children you had ??
i sent a request in yesterday for them to look into our claim !!
will keep you informed0 -
I have just rang my local tax office, the very helpful man said I had not received it, I asked could he check if my husband claimed it on his tax code, apparently he can't tell me, my husband has to ring himself. I want to know now, looks like I have to wait until this evening. At least they are open until 8pm. I will let you know if I find out anything useful....0
