As per my previous posts I wrote to local tax office claiming this allowance for 2001-2002 & 2002-2003 on 9th March, on 15th march I recived form 11ctc from them we sent this back same day............ At the most I expected a rebate of £1049 (made up of £520 for 01-02 & £529 for 02-03).
In Saturdays (07th April) post I got a letter headed tax calculation for 2002-2003 and a cheque attached for £2398.84 :j It said £529 was tax credit allowance for 02-03 and the other £1896.64 was for "earlier years overpayments". It made no mention of tax year 01-02 or the £520 allowance, but I am guessing this is included in the £1896.64.
I am over the moon, so thanks once again to the OP. I owe you a
I would urge anybody who thinks they are due the allowance, to write off asap. It took me 5 mins to write 1st letter & 5 mins to fill in form they sent and the cost of 2 1st class stamps and I am £2398.84 better off. :T0 -
Wow, thats brilliant mancitychick! I just told my OH, he said dont even bother thinking we will get the same lol
Still waiting for my claim form to arrive. Which tax office did you deal with out of interest?“A budget is telling your money where to go instead of wondering where it went.” - Dave Ramsey0 -

We sent a letter to my dh's tax office in Middlesbrough on 12th Feb asking for the necessary forms and/or advice and have heard nothing yet
Don't know whether to send another letter or ring them?

Just checked my OH's coding notices for the years in question and each state that he received a tax allowance of £4,420 but in the amounts taken away from your allowance column, it gives Children's Tax Credit Rest'n - £2,830.
Does anyone know if OH received the correct amount from these figures.

I've just re-read first page of thread and found the answer to my question.

Personally I would send a copy of the original letter asking for an update. I found phoning to be like banging my head against a brick wall! From reading this thread a good few people are being told that their tax office has a 4 - 6 week backlog of post, but since 12th Feb was 8 weeks ago I would chase it up.0 -
I will have to look into this, as my 3 children were all born in this period, and DH was s/employed and I was working part time, so here's hoping!keep smiling,
