Hi lalamb, that's not a question anyone else could answer for you. It has to do with whether either of you paid higher rate tax at the time because you were high earners, rather than paying at the standard rate. If either of you earned over about £35k per year at the time, then you would have been taxed at 40%, which is higher rate. I hope that helps.

Ah right, I see! Thanks for clearing that up for me.
  • sorry guys, another question here.

My son was born in sept 2002, hubby made redundant in Feb 2003 and we were on income support form about april 2003. He was on about £38,000 before being made redundnat, and i was not working. Would we still come under the 6 year time frame? thanks - if its a yes, will read through all posts to see what i need to do tomorrow!
  • Did some investigation and discovered we hadn't claimed this Children's Tax allowance and although too late for the 2001/02 year we have been able to claim for 2002/03 and received a cheque this morning for £529 + interest

It hasn't taken too long to get it either, wrote to Tax office on September 16th, sent it registered and received cheque this morning.

I have '11ctc' form in PDF format if anyone else reading this think they may not have claimed if you want to PM me with your email addy I can forward it...

Can you answer yes to the following three questions:-

    * You have a child born between 6/4/1986 and 5/4/2003
    * The child lived with you for all or part of 2002/03
    * You worked and paid tax for all or part of 2002/03

If you answered yes to the above then check your P60 for 2002/03 if your tax code ends in an H or a T then you already got it. If not or unsure then you can fill in the 11ctc form send off and see..

**Has to be claimed before end of Jan 2009 I think**
  • I have no idea what my tax codes were. My son was born in 98. I married in 2000, divorced in 2003 (i think, I havent a clue really)

hmm dont know what to do really.

edit/aw just found a payslip from end of dec 2003, my tax code was L.

So maybe I can get something back.

ANy on know what address to send the form to? thanks
  • ah bloody hell - i just looked at the entitlement agency. I think i filled their form in and set it off many months ago and never heard anything, I forgot all about it.
  • Has anyone heard of "The Entitlements Agency". I was directed to it from a friend as being able to claim Tax Credits if your child was born between 2001 to 2003.

There are forms to fill in and post off which means they can claim it on your behalf, you then get your money and they take a fee.

I have sent off my forms but I am now uncomfortable that I haven't heard from them and I am unable to contact them.

    Can anyone help ?

I'm always dubious of an organisation that pretends to be a government agency when they obviously aren't (their web address is '.org.uk' and their full name apppears to be 'The Entitlements Agency Ltd').

If you think you qualify, download the form from HMRC's website and get all you're entitled to yourself, rather than paying these people £94. Either way, it's you providing the information, why share the benefits?

Could anyone advise me on this? I am wanting to make a claim, should I write to my current tax office or the tax office on my P60 from 02/03?
