  • Hi

Can anyone tell me if it is too late to claim this, and if not, how do I find out my tax office?

    Thanks

Hi Jane, it's too late to claim for 2001-2002, but not too late to claim for 2002-2003. Your P60s show who your tax office is, otherwise ask your employer (they'll have the address and phone numbr whereas the P60 will probably just have the name).
    Debt at highest: £6,290.72 (14.2.1999)
Debt free success date: 14.8.2006 :j

i today called up the tax office, my son was born Oct 2002. They told me that no tax relief was given and they will send me out a P60 and some info. I will fill in the form and send a letter in.

Do you think i will get anything back, if so how much do you think?

    cheers.

The tax office wont send you a P60. Do you have one from your place of employment for that tax year.

Well unless things have changed I will be very surprised if this happens.
    1. The tax office dont provide you your P60
    2. A copy P60 is worthless

  • Found this by googling the infamous "form 11CTC" for someone on CAG, funny how these things go round, :rotfl: .

A lot of people seem to say that you can only claim 6 years and therefore if you have missed the boat, you can't go back further than that.

I would be very tempted to invoke s.32 of the Limitation Act 1980, actually and try to get the previous years too.
    32.--
    • (1) .... where in the case of any action for which a period of limitation is prescribed by this Act, either-
      • (a) the action is based upon the fraud of the defendant; or
      • (b) any fact relevant to the plaintiff's right of action has been deliberately concealed from him by the defendant; or
      • (c) the action is for relief from the consequences of a mistake;
the period of limitation shall not begin to run until the plaintiff has discovered the fraud, concealment or mistake (as the case may be) or could with reasonable diligence have discovered it....
Certainly, you have nothing to lose and much to gain by trying to argue the point.

I'm off to dig out my P60 and see if I have any chance there (knowing my luck, I won't, I never do. :o )

Hope the above helps some people.

my eldest was born in september 2002 - hubby then made redundant in feb 2003 and we claimed benefits from then until he got another job. He was on about £40k when made redundant. Does anyone know if we would be entitled to anything? thanks!
