  • Wow, this is the first time I've been on the Benefits board, and what a find it has been.

I've no idea if I got this or not, but a letter has been penned, and will be in the post to Mr Taxman tomorrow morning.

Not getting my hopes up just yet though ;)

    Thanks to the OP.

  • Thanks to all on these boards I have just received a lovely cheque for £1200.00 from HMRC - all for just writing a letter to my local tax office with our National Insurance numbers and copy of son's birth certificate and stating that we wanted to claim the Childs Tax credit from 2001/2 and 2002/3. Took about 6-8 weeks but is so simple! £520.00 per tax year plus interest!

    Hi,

I was a single parent during the time period this allowance was available does this mean I was not entitled to it?

Does anyone know if you actually had to be working to claim it or simply be a taxpayer (my husband was medically retired on a pension)?
    thanks

Well i resent my letter as i didn't get a reply and at the beggining of the week they sent the form to fill in....lol and also another form as they think we paid to much tax for one of the years :j :j :j

    now just fingers crossed.
Once you sent the form back how long did it take them to send a reply or pay up?
