Food shopping on Christmas Eve????????

A few years ago I worked at a large DIY shop over the winter period. I was working on Christmas Eve and we were due to shut at 4 pm. People were coming in at 3.45/3.50 to buy stuff. We couldn't tell if they were planning to do a bit of DIY on the special day or had really run out of ideas for presents (3 litres of Dulux anyone?!). The manager ended up chucking people out so that we could go home! The supermarket next door was heaving as well so I left as quick as I could in the opposite direction."Does it spark joy?" - Marie Kondo

Last xmas eve, the sainsbury's where I live was the only shop with electricity for 2+ hours! Both M&S & Coop where closed. Becasue of this, the shop was packed full... Queues snaking in and out of all the aisles even with every till open. It was virtually impossible to move because of the sheer voulume of customers.0

food shopping on xmas eve is a no no for me. i cant bear the pushing and shoving just to get a tub of coleslaw or whatever people are going mental for
However I do love wilkinsons on christmas eve, i always make an effort to go up there around 3pm (and it is always, every year, suprisingly quiet) as I love the half price xmas decorations! The last few years have becme a bit of a tradition with this, and ive always done really well, got some lovely stuff that I would never afford full price. The opposite of what you know...is also true0 -
I think a few years ago it did used to be quiet...however these days about 15 million people have caught on to the fact that some supermarkets reduce items and that there may be a bargain...
I've found the last few years that supermarkets are heaving, you usually cannot get everything you need, its stressful and chaotic and not a pleasurable experience and the scrum for any reductions is a full on fist fight in some circumstances.
Also Tesco do not reduce the christmas stock...they kept it full price for days after the christmas period...so my advice, get your shopping done early and relax on christmas eve.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

I'm sure most people could easily survive for at least 2 weeks on what they have in the house.

yes well some people are like that, if you dont have coleslaw or something else then it doesnt matter, as long as you have the essentials then dont worry about it0
