wheels stolen by garage

I would respect the garage more if they had gone down the correct route and instigated a small claims action for the disputed amount, it seems a little "back street bully" tactic to me.0
-
I know I shouldn't laugh at the misfortunes of others, but it is funny.... especially the update to announce the shocks/brakes are also gone.0
-
None of us know the full background to why the garage was not paid, or if the removed parts belonged to the garage, if they did, can it really be classed as theft?
Isn't that what the civil court system is for? Surely the garage would prefer to claim for the full amount owed instead of taking used parts and used wheels. That way a Judge would be able to resolve the dispute.0 -
Its a bit cold for the police to come out of their warm station, they will tell you its a civil matter.0

I guess this could be a civil matter though- does op own the tyres/shocks/brakes or does garage own these until payment received? theft- does this count as intention to permanantly deprive? criminal damage...has any damage been done?
I guess op could have an argument for the garage stealing the parts the garage took off the car in the first place as they havnt been returned?0 -
We don't know the full reason for this action by the garage, though i imagine the reason the wheels are gone is because they were removing property which hasn't been paid for, namely brakes aand shockers...they've taken the wheels to prevent the car being driven in a dangerous condition after removing their property, if they'd put the wheels back on a serious accident could have occured.
I'm not suggesting the OP here is doing anything wrong but maybe he should contact the company he has dispute with and try to come to some agreement.0 -
I knew a signwriter once who when struggling to get paid by an unreasonable customer used to blow out eggs and fill them with paint and chuck them all over his hard work - anonymously of course as he wasn't legally allowed to remove his own signs from the customers property even though they were technically his.0

Would love to see the advice on here in the case of a small repair shop who have fitted new shocks and brakes to a car, but the owner is refusing to pay!

^^ Maybe it's something daft, like OP won't pay because there was a scratch on the car when the work was finished? something silly like that maybe...“I may not agree with you, but I will defend to the death your right to make an a** of yourself.”

It certainly isn't a theft, maybe criminal damage ?0
