Folks
A number of posts were removed last night, which recommended similar solutions to those your are proposing. Not sure if the posters have been PPRed. So leave it alone.
Posts have been removed, including yours. And no, I haven't been PPRed and there are no grounds for doing so, whatever your opinion may be.
If you would like to discuss this further on the appropriate forum I shall be happy to participate.
To the OP, I hope you find a solution to your family's difficulties. My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead

Since when was learning to speak the local language a requirement for qualifying for benefits? So the Mum doesn't speak good English. Well, for benefits there is no requirement to be able to do so and never has been. Do I think that's an omission in the law?
I think that law has just been rectified by this government in the speech the Home Secretary gave to parliament last month about non EU immigrants.
To have settlement in the UK, they will now have to speak a basic level of English - and until they have settlement, they can't claim benefits.RENTING? Have you checked to see that your landlord has permission from their mortgage lender to rent the property? If not, you could be thrown out with very little notice.

How very patronising and condescending
As a public forum people have the right to post as they see fit and I am sure if they are deemed unsuitable at MSE Towers (not by you which I am sure upsets you) then they wil be notified.0 -

Can the carer in Turkey get the internet when he dosnt even have a phone to be contacted on?0 -
I have better things to do then tell him what has just happened. [his aware of the basic situation, which he thinks my mother will be receiving I.S) I'm trying to solve this without adding onto his pain. A little courtesy please. He already suffers from a heart condition as it is.
I always thought that with people of your culture you always looked after the parents and grandparents, it looks like one generation down (yours) this no longer counts, I have known many children who have looked after there parents money wise from a very young age. But your GTi is obviously more important, so its all down too WHAT CAN SHE GET FROM THE GOVERNMENT OF A COUNTRY THAT SHE HAS NO RESPECT FOR?0 -
Jesus Christ ALREADY!!! GO AWAY! This is the FINAL time I will be replying to your completely god damn irreverent replies! HE NEVER WENT WITH HIS OWN CAR, THEY BOTH WENT IN THE FRIENDS CAR WHICH WAS COMPLETELY OUT OF LUCK THAT THE FRIEND WAS ALREADY GOING! Jeez.
a VERY NICE ATTITUDE, if you come onto forums like this asking for help. Make sure you get the story first. With all the contradictions you have made, this is getting like a fairy tale, and as for your father driving all the way to Turkey, if he can sit in a car for that long period of time, why is it he can not get a job sitting at a computer, or driving a van.
Honestly the more I am reading through this listing the angrier I am getting. Grab Grab Grab, and give nothing back in return.0 -
I know you are not going to like this suggestion OP, but would it not help your family if you were to move back home temporarily and use what you currently pay in rent to help support your Mum and brothers?
I know no-one likes to have to do that sort of thing, but sometimes it is the only way.
I am quite surprised that this hasn't happened already, the Turks are well known for looking after there elderly relatives, But this is a new generation, if you were living in Turkey you would have no other option but to hand over all your wages, they don't have benefits over there.0 -
OP, this is good advice. It makes no difference which other independent family members your Mum can beg/borrow/ask for support from. I suggest you get more involved in this, get someone at the CAB to help you both go through this process and then also get your MP involved. It's outrageous that the DWP should make someone destitute and not in a position to house and feed her family just because some DWP jobsworth decided she shouldn't get anything. Interpreting the law doesn't mean ignoring it and doing something outside the law.
The DWP are not making them homeless or destitute, And its not some jobsworth that has made any decisions. It is the benefit rules that are being followed.0 -

My point was that the benefit rules had not been followed and that there is entitlement to Income Support. I'm always happy to be corrected but would ask for more detail.
If you believe social housing should be restricted to those who can speak English you can feed into the current consultation here:
