enabledebra wrote: »Hello OP. I haven't read all these posts so I'm not sure if you have had a full/factual response. The issues involved are quite complex so although I can't answer off the top of my head I will look into the circumstances and pm you tomorrow- not least because I might need more info (if pms aren't facilitated by the site I'll post here.) I'm sorry to hear about your difficult circumstances.
Thanks. A few people who I'm refusing to reply to love to post to add heaps of stress just becuase you didn't mention one thing (like how I never mentioned I'm cutting money out of my check to give to them for daily food/toiletries. - I'll just pay the rent late this week and I could possibly support them for another week but, seriously? Then what? ) Or take random things out of context/post from completly (litterly) irrelevant threads. - Obviously if I didn't care, I would be here chasing this up to the fullest.)
Thanks for the reply though, I'll wait for your PM. Thanks again.0 -
It's already been advised that your family are entitled to local housing allowance on the grounds of low income alone, they can also get council tax benefit also due to low income, child benefit just because there is a child in the house and child tax credits because you are a low income family with a child at home.
You shouldn't need to be subsidising their rent, that's what LHA is for.0 -
You apply for DLA in general and they decide which band to put you on. Sometimes they are wrong but as your brother has/had a care worker I assume he had help filling in the form and the care worker agreed with the award given (sounds like low care, low mobility), any good care worker would have advised that your brother/parents appeal if the award had been as out of whack as you are implying it is.
As I said, we had no idea up until recently about these "bands" and if my brother fell eligible for them, so we never questioned it. And we don't really live in the best parts of town, so its no surprise if you expect good help/support and never find it. If the care worker made a mistake, I wouldn't be surprised. When the compliance officer comes knocking (and under the circumstances it is highly likely that he will), he/she will ask much more indepth questions than the one you were asked earlier about your brother attacking your dad. Any discrepancies and the DLA claim can be called into question too, I hope your whole family aren't as defensive and inconsitent as you in those circumstances.
I don't mind if a compliance officer comes around. Regarding the attack, these type of things where happening before he even started getting DLA, for many years actually. It was more of a come and go phase. This is one of the reasons why it had been suggested we claim for DLA. But it has slowly, over the years, gotten worse. (again, if we had known, we would have done something about his DLA.)0 -
so you earn 200+ per week. after paying rent there is still enough left for food.
If dad can drop everything to help HIS family so can you.
look at it from my point of view, One minute your asking about insuring a car your buying and want to drive it to turkey.
Next thing dad's had to go away suprisingly enough to turkey.
You then say the family have nothing at all to live on yet you omit to say you live at home and work full time bringing home a wage.
You cant tailor your story to get the advice you want.
Advice here is based on FACT not fiction or what if's0 -
DLA awards usually have a review period, every review you have to get another 50+ page form and start all over again, surely at some point your brother has had a review of his DLA, indefinite awards for mental health issues are rare first time around unless there is medical evidence that the condition will not change ever??0

She already receives LHA (or housing benefi at least.) She also receives Child benefit. But not child tax credits. (not sure what that is exactly.)You shouldn't need to be subsidising their rent, that's what LHA is for.
Sorry, I never made that part clear. I meant that I would delay paying for my rent for a week.

tax credit helpline 08453003900
they will need to speak to your mum as it is her claim.
they will require you to fill in a form detailing both your parents incomes and you may need to send off your brothers birth cerfiticate.
the form will need to be signed by both of your parents.0 -

Which one is that? Never heard of anything like that. I was only told there where a handful of benefits, which are IC, IS, DLA, JSA and that's it. Care to shed some light?
Thanks!0
