Husband's just been fined for dropping cigarette butt!

Agreed MissDee - dog fouling is disgusting ans I cannot believe the police man just left it!! That is so wrong, and so much more offensive than a cigarette butt.
It annoys me and I am going to look into it more that not more is done for all the rubbish (ie Macdonalds wrappers), I would like to see the ratio of fines. People that dispose of chewing gum incorrectly, again, do they get done?
The bottle is a good idea, thank you for the tip. How long have you known you can get fined?

So he admitted being the driver but not dropping litter. They now need AFAIK to provide you with the evidence. Innocent until proven guilty. Maybe you should post on pepipoo.com as well as its a driving matter.I'd rather be an Optimist and be proved wrong than a Pessimist and be proved right.0

So I am paying good honest council tax money to employ road sweepers to do what? Walk down the street whistling?
Bring on the litter I say - give the man some job satisfaction and pride in his work.0 -
Hi Peter, thank you for your help. To be honest, we'll probably just pay. I couldn't bare the thought of court and a potential bigger fine, if we hadn't I would have fought it, but he did. Reading on Pepipoo they need to be able to positively ID the perpetrator which there is no way this person would be able to, we just wont do it again
I did have an idea though. I mean where is this money going? I would be much happier if we were ordered to purchase a cigarette bin for £50, as that would be much more useful than being wasted on wherever else it goes, as there are no cigarette bins anywhere!
And yes to the last poster, it keeps someone in a job. But then again the world would be nicer without it.

So am just warning anyone who has this bad habit like us to think twice before throwing it out the window!!
Not much point in that warning as the same was mentioned several days ago and didn't help you.

Edit...Although it maybe a sign they are cracking down on this (replace speed camera income?)0 -
I am aware of at least one London borough where enforcement officers can be seen at the side of the road at various traffic light locations watching out for people doing just that, fag butts out the window whislt stopped at the lights. This is usually early mornings only. You see the florescent jackets thinking they are doing a survey or there for the lights etc, but no not in Ilford Essex.0

Sorry to hear about that, it is easy to just forget to dispose of it properly - i always keep a half full bottle of water in the car to put my cigarette out in gross i know but i would rather that than the fine.
Although on the opposite side of things its unfair that dog owners never pick up the "mess" they leave behind so it is there for people to tread in, i even seen one do it in front of a copper who did nothing about it so i asked him why, he said that apparently they cant hand out fines for it only dog wardens can, madness! I consider dog fouling to be much more of an annoyance than a cigarette butt ok its still not nice but at least you dont have to scrape it off your shoes for what seems like hours after making the trek home smelling of poop!0 -

I'm not being funny but how do you manage to get the lid off the bottle to put the cigerette out if you're smoking while you're driving?0 -

It's ok, we need someone to zig zag around the roads no-handed. Without people like her, we'd have far more !!!!!! children running across the road without looking. It's population control at its finest.0
