    Thank you so much.

    I will report back.

I think I might be in the wrong thread here though, I'm not really finding my way around the forum very well - its huge.

Apologies for invading the Halifax thread!
One day everything will be better!

  • You'll find a thread for most of the main banks and also help threads for the various stages you need to go through.

As regards a closed account send off the letter with the £10 for all the data held on you and give your name, any relevant addresses and your date of birth and they should be able to trace your account.

Have a read of Martin's article, then read it again and follow the steps :)

  • I am just about to have a go at Halifax for £9K+

I don't mind if they close my current account but my mortgage is also with them.

Does anyone have any experience with Halifax as I am worried they may close my mortgage?
  • In my experience Halifax aren't closing accounts. As for the mortgage, I don't think that they have the same clauses as other accounts ie at any time the banks can demand payment in full, but I'm not an expert and amn't 100% sure.

All banks can and some do close accounts/withdraw overdrafts but your mortgage is a different agreement you have signed and should be okay.
  • Hi All

Just a quick question: I filed MCOL last night - do i need to send another schedule of charges to the bank, and or to the court?

If so do I need to show the 8% interest figures also?

    Thanks

    Drew
  • Hi,

Just received the standard response from Halifax.

"We're sorry to learn you are unhappy...Customer relation manager will reply... no later than 4 weeks".

Should I send the follow up letter now or should I wait 7 days?

It would be better to do this. Send a copy to the bank, and the court (Northampton address for MCOL). You will need to show the interest.

Move ahead at your timetable, not theirs. Send the next letter once your first deadline is up.

I sent my LBA to the Halifax on 23 January and it was delivered there on 24 January. They have not contacted me since receipt, not even an acknowledgement letter.

I am wondering whether, when the 14 days is up, it might be worth me giving them a ring before I file court papers to see if they are prepared to discuss a settlement.

Has anyone else done this successfully and if so, what is the best number to call? I sent my letter to Trinity Road.

My claim is for £7789 (plus interest) so this would REALLY come in handy at the moment.

    Thanks
