  • Just called the customer relations department and they said there is no guarantee that the request will be redirected to the relevant department as they only have one postal box (??????) and that I should send another letter to the trinity road address.

As I have sent two postal orders for £10 i'm not sure what to do. Have I lost that money?

You could try phoning using the customer service number, sorry its an 0845 number, and ask them if it would be passed on to the correct department.

Thanks ever so much for that info.... I've just rang them and spoke to a really nice lady, she was so apologetic and told me that they had received the letter and the payment, she told me she would sent the copy statements in the post tonight. We were having a bit of a laugh about the state of my old account and I said something daft like... "So, am I gonna be rich then?" to which she laughed and replied, "At first glance its definitely pointing that way"!!

Anyway, i'll let you know when the statements come through. I am expecting anything in the region of around £200 - £300 so fingers crossed!!

All I can suggest is write to the Trinity Road address, explain you have already sent a letter with £10 to Fife and are still waiting on your information.

But I would also give it an hour and phone CS again and see if you get a different person answering the phone.
  • Advice needed please......

HBOS have been extremely prompt in sending out my husbands statements, however they only go up to May 2004 and none more recent have been enclosed. I also recieved the same bog standard letter as 1mmaker relating to manual intervention on the account and that they are under no statutory obligation to record this information, what I'd like to know is are they classing the bank charges as a manual intervention because as far as I can see there are no charges noted on these statements and we have definately had lots of them!
As the 40 days aren't up until the 16th of February should I wait until then and then request the satements that haven't been sent or should I just contact them now to ask for them?

    Thanks

A lot of banks are sending the statements out in batches. You will have to sit and wait. If they don't all arrive within 40 days, tell them you will complain to the Information Commissioner.

  • I am claiming back from two accounts that I have with them.

I sent my first letter on the 8/01/07 to:

    Halifax Plc
    Motherwell Contact Centre
    250 Airbles Road
    Motherwell
    ML1 3RU

Requesting a claim for my bank charges. I did not hear any thing back and I thought that I sent it to the wrong address so I sent off another letter with extra-added interest to:

    HALIFAX PLC
    TRINITY ROAD
    HALIFAX
    WEST YORKSHIRE
    HX1 2RG

    On 22/01/07
So my first letters did not get there then oh well I did put more interest on
only to find that today 24/01/07 when the postman came he had two letter from the Halifax saying that a customer relation manager is looking into my complaint and that I should receive a reply shortly, but certainly no later than 4 weeks.

I think that 4 weeks is a long time.

    Keep everyone updated.

as long as you have the receipts from the p.o. and counterfoils of your postal orders, you should be able to get your money back if they cannot be traced. check that with your local post office. it's a good job u sent them by recorded delivery.
