  • I have made three claims for bank charges and won all of them and I am now considering claiming back to 1980. The banks deliberatly concealed the fact that their charges were unlawful. This breaks the code of banking act of 1980.The bank knew what they were doing and concealed this fact from me making me belive that they were acting within the law. I got all of the help making my claim from the forum on the consumer action group. This is a site with people like you and me helping one another too reclaim the unlawful charges. The site can be found at: http://www.consumeractiongroup.co.uk/

good luck to everybody and I hope this helps.

    Hi there

I stupidly went overdrawn by about £24 yesterday and as soon as I logged on I noticed this. (It was a cheque that I THOUGHT had been banked by someone and they hadn't). Anyway, I transferred £100 from joint account to my account and money appeared in my account. So I must have been overdrawn by a couple of hours at the most. Letter received via e-mail to say blah, blah, blah £30 plus interest!!!! Can I get this money back as I personally think £30 is a bit excessive? I admit that I am in the wrong by going overdrawn but £30????!!!! Maybe the cost of the person writing the letter but they didn't even have to use a stamp to post the darn thing!!

    Thanks for your help!

I did this too a couple of months ago, it was a bank holiday and I just totally forgot to leave £20 for a DD, I only ended up being over drawn for about £10 I paid money straight in and went to customer service person in my local branch and had a major go at them. They said that because I'd never done it before I could have a refund of it (there is a proper word but for the life of me can not remember sorry) apparently you get one per account, but anyhow now with claiming charges back etc it makes no difference, but might be worth asking so you don't need to bother with sending letters and waiting longer. HTH.

I have sent off my letter recorded delivery to Halifax today asking for my past 6 years' Bank Statements from my Current Account. I am very excited and a bit nervous!

Shall you keep you posted of my progress. :j

  • Hi All
I'm new to this and have questions, I went to a branch of BOS to request my statements and received about 2 1/2 years worth is this a ploy ? will the rest come? so far I'm at £967 in charges but I've read here that in Scotland you can only claim £750 at a time, does this mean each claim to the bank has to be done in seperate claims of £750 or can you hit them for them all at the one time and then break the court claims down later?

I want to get this right cos we have another 3 accounts to go after if succesfull.

    All advice gratefully accepted.

    Cheers
  • dont be nervous....just go for it ...i was nervous too but in the end got a result....just waiting for my money now..
