If it comes to going to court, yes you may have to break down the claims but start off in your initial letter asking for the total. Read this website for more on claiming in Scotland and NI.

After reading this and other threads I was inspired to get out all my bank statements and see how much the Halifax have been charging me over the past few years. I only have just over 5 years worth of statements and the total amount is just short of £500. I'm pretty sure that I wouldn't have gone overdrawn before the date of the oldest statement I found so I think I might just try to claim for the amount I've worked out rather than apply for another 9 months of statements, pay £10 for the privilege and have them drag their heels over it.
So I've done my letter and I'm off to post it tomorrow - wish me luck!0 -

Hi all,
I'm getting a little worried... I sent the standard request for statements to the address in Fife just before Christmas. I enclosed a cheque, which they cashed almost immediately, but as yet have not even received an acknowledgement of my request. This Sunday is the 40th day!!
What do I do if they do not send me the information, I have seen others on here that have been advised to put in a claim, but how am I meant to do that if I don't know how much I need to claim??
Any advice is most welcome.Starting weight 17st 4lb - weight now 15st 2lbs
30lb lost of 30lb by June 2012 :j:j:j (80lb overall goal)0 -
Phone them now and ask the bank if the information is on its way and if not, why not.

Hi,
I like the others have sent my statement request to the Fife address. Do you think this will be passed on to the relevant department or should I send another letter? I sent postal orders so have no way of checking if they have cashed the money. Luckily I did send the letters by recorded delivery so I know they've got them.0 -
You could try phoning using the customer service number, sorry its an 0845 number, and ask them if it would be passed on to the correct department.
