Sorry to bump this, I know everyone is busy and I appreciate any advice given. Just didn't want it getting left behind and I am itching to make that 1st call to get my statements back.

If you want to play it a bit safer.................Claim from the bank account first. Use the money you get back to pay off your card (or as much as you can), then claim off the card.

Hi my wife rang 08457 20 30 40 and asked for statments they said ok their will be a charge of £5.00 they will take out of our account. the statments came in about 5 days there was 24 seperate letters so if they can send 24 letters for £5.00 how can they justify one letter for £39.00. have sent letter today to my local branch by recorded delivery and asked for £12973.00 charges to be returned to my account .

someone was saying on here that they get charged £28.00 and £30.00 is that true because they are charging me £39.00.

I just rang this number to request my statements and they said I had to write to:-

    HBOS Plc
    Business Risk/Retail
    10 Carlton Street
    Halifax
    HX1 2AL

Send a cheque for £10 and I will receive a list of the CHARGES ONLY. I told them I had been informed I could request for them over the phone for a cost of £5 but he said this was not the case.

    Is this right????

  • Hi all, i'm new to the site and wondering if anybody has made a successful claim against Bank of Scotland? I've recently returned from travelling Australia for a year and whilst travelling had to send money home every month to pay for bills, i put enough money in the account to cover the bills but it slowly became obvious that some of the bills weren't getting paid. Upon further investigation i discovered i was being charged sometimes over £100 per month, in charges which started a domino effect which resulted in these outrageous charges being issued nearly every month during the last year. If the bank proves to me it costs them £30 every time then i'd pay no problem but i've heard it costs them between £2:50 and £4:50 a pop which according to the law is illegal as they can only charge an amount which is relevant to the actual costs they incurr. Surely i can claim these charges back?

Oh right - thanks. Typical!! He seemed completely versed in what he had to say. Must have been inundated....good! He said I won't be sent the transactions, just the charges, which I suppose makes it easier for me to work out!!

  • Hi all...

I rang the 08457 20 30 40 number on the 8th of January and got all my statements for last 6 yrs within two weeks. Couldn't have been more helpfull. Cost me £5 for 60 letters...301 pages in total, and they have the nerve to charge us £30 per letter.

    Cheers...Stuart

I have a feeling they have changed their stance on this. I mean, if they only give them out by me writing in now, it means they get another fiver off us!!

He was adamant that they can't be sent out over the telephone anymore. Oh well, I've just printed out the letter and I shall send it off by Recorded first thing in the morning with the cheque. I shall keep you all posted. Thanks to everyone on here for the continued support. :T
