Hi guys
Just got my ball rolling on this
I sent Halifax my first letter on the 13th December 2006 sent via recorded delivery which was received on the 18th December 2006.
I received a letter then dated the 10th January 2007 that they are sending my statements under separate cover.
I haven't received them so far, I know its only 9 days since their letter, but I'm wondering how long to give it before I give them a nudge? and should I give them a time limit to provide me with the statements when I do give them a nudge???
Also is a phone call better than sending another letter dont really want to phone them unless I have to, I'm a bit nervous doing this lol
Many thanks in advance

Just phoned Halifax and said thanks for their offer, but before I am able to accept I need them to address 2 issues. Firstly I need them to increase the offer to £920 to cover my court fees and secondly I need them to agree to paying the funds into my account within 3 working days, not 7-10 as indicated on the offer acceptance form. He put me on hold for about a minute and came back saying no problem, they would fax me a revised acceptence form. I well pleased with that.
Anybody know how I go about cancelling the court proceedings?
just checked my balance online tonight and the £920 has been credited to my account - thanks to Martin and eveyone on this site - I can't actually believe this works!!0 -
Mice_Elf wrote:-=nods=- OK, so I send them another letter asking for the money and give them another 7 days. Thanks.
Mice_Elf Im in exactly the same boat as you, same dates to... but i think we should wait until the 31st of Jan until we send the 2nd letter shouldnt we? thats the timescale given in the 1st letter then on the 1st of feb we send the second letter with the threat of court action and another 7 days,
I would love to send the 2nd letter before that but i dont want to do ANYTHING wrong! i want my money and dont want to risk cutting corners would love some advice!
cheers

If you don't receive the statements within your 40 day limit. Send them THIS LETTER (change it a bit to fit your circumstance). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Keep to your timetable throughout your claim. Once the first 14 day deadline is up. Post the next letter. If they don't reply with a full offer to settle within your next deadline. Issue your court claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

Hiya thanks for your reply.
Just wondering because I sent this before christmas do I discount christmas and any holidays like new year from the 40 days?0 -
Submitted my claim on Friday evening for a total of £1700, so it will be processed Monday.
What happens next?
Only thing i am worried about is Halifax telling me they don't have records of my 2nd and 3rd letters i sent them ?
Hopefully this wont be a problem,as i have a copy of 1 letter my local branch sent me for the 2nd (giving 14 days notice)0 -

If you sent the letters recorded/registered delivery. You don't have anything to worry about. This is why we recommend all letters are sent by signed for post. This way you can prove they received your letters (even if they claim otherwise). How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

It will be 40 days on Sunday since we requested our 6 years of statements from the Halifax. So far we have only received 2 years worth (approx 10 days ago). Is there a number we can call to jog them along or what is the next step?
Many thanks
This happened to a friend of mine. Initially, Halifax only sent the last 2 years of statements and after writing to them a second time they sent the same statements again. He wrote last week for a 3rd time and today the past 6 years of statements arrived. Persevere and good luck.0 -
I’ve got together all my charges from my bank statements and I have £450 to claim back.
I’m not sure where to address my letters I have the address of my branch but no other do I just send the letters their? or do I send them to Halifax plc registers offices on the back of my statements?
Has any one had success claiming back if so how did it go? :doh:0
