1st letter asked for all details of all charges with £10 - they sent all statements.
2nd letter listed the statements and asked for a refund. No mention of court.
If you look at step 4 of Martins article. You need to write to the bank twice asking for the charges back. This second letter gives the bank another 7 days to respond, or you will issue a court claim. The steps taken should be........
1st letter ask for details of charges with £10 enclosed.
2nd letter asking for the money back (with a 14 day time limit).
3rd letter asking for the money back or you will issue a court claim (with another seven day limit).
4th issue the court claim. How many surrealists does it take to change a lightbulb?

I'm posting this for my mum she is interested in claiming unlawful charges but she has a mortgage with the bank she wants to claim from (the Halifax) will this cause any problems with the claim or if they close her accounts will her mortgage be affected?
thanks in advance

Her mortgage will be a different agreement from her bank accounts.
As you can see from this thread a lot of people are in the process of reclaiming from Halifax.0 -

Would you mind telling me what contact number you used to telephone them. I signed an acceptance form for the amount they offered me nearly three weeks ago now and still haven't heard anything from them so just want to chase them up but there are so many telephone numbers and departments!
i used the "customer Relations" number which is 08457 253519 - they have customer relation managers staffing these lines - maybe they are overwhelmed with complaints at present - i wonder why?? tee hee0 -

I wish that you could claim for more than 6 years. I had loads of charges between 8 and 10 years ago.0
