  • Just phoned them to ask if they received my acceptance form. The man on the phone was very nice and asked me for all my details.

He said that they had received it and it was sitting in a pile to do

I explained I knew it wasn't his fault personally but why do they put "7-10 working days" on the form when they have no intention of processing them straight away?

I then asked him, if I owed them nearly £2,000 pounds, would they wait this long without hearing anything from me?

He said he would get it out of the pile and processed straight away :j

So anyone who is waiting for money to be put in their account, phone them and chase them up - chances are your form is in the same giagantic pile mine was!

I am claiming £1358 bank charges from halifax, got statements then sent 1st letter giving 14 days notice on 29th december, recieved letter off local bank saying it has been forwarded to head office, nothing heard of so on 11th jan sent letter giving 7 days or court action.... still nothing except a call on 12th saying they had recieved letter and are looking into it.

Just checked my balance , still overdrawn :( no payment recieved

    What now?

Fill in claim form today at moneyclaim or make quick call on above number some one posted?

    Or give them till monday?

Phone them now and give them until 4pm to make a satisafactory offer or you'll commence proceedings. They'll probably fob you off saying that their regulator allows them up to 8 weeks to respond in which case go ahead and submit the moneyclaim.

If you read my recent posts you'll see my situation was almost identical to yours and they've made a suitable offer to me today.

    best of luck

Hello there... Sent 2nd letter (the one with all the charges on it) to the Halifax on the 16th January. Have today received a letter stating the following :

"Thank you for your letter, which was received at this office on 17th January 2007.

I am sorry to learn that you are unhappy with charges applied to your account.

We're keen to deal With your concerns as quickly as possible. A Customer Relations Manager will investigate the points you have raised and you will receive a reply shortly, but certainly no later than 4 weeks.

You will find enclosed a copy of our leaflet, which tells you how we handle your complaint.

Your concerns will be dealt with as quickly as possible, but to help us deal more efficiently with your enquiry, please quote XXXXXXXXX when writing or telephoning the number at the top of the letter.

    Yours sincerely,

    Victoria Jayne Sutcliffe
    Customer Relations Officer.

So what's my next step? Ignore it and start court proceedings on the 1st February as per my original letter or send them another letter stating that the deadline was 2 weeks, not 4 weeks?

At least they've acknowledged that they received the letter, I guess! :)

I think you've jumped stright to the 3rd letter you should send and so you should have given them a l;etter giving 14 days with no mentioon of court and then when thoe days are up sent a 2nd leter (the one it sounds like you have sent) so technically you should be giving them 3 weeks intotal

Hi, After reading everything on here, i have decided to set the ball in motion for my husbands account. I have only had the chance to look back on the online statements and they go back to March last year but even that totals up to £1500! I hate to think what 6 years worth would bring it to!

I am just about to fill in the blanks on the first letter and will be dropping it into the branch in the morning with my £10.

My husband is unsure of doing this for the risk of the account being closed and him not being able to get another one (bad credit history). Do the Halifax close the account after a succesful claim?

Good luck to everyone in this! Its about time people fought back!
    Love is all around! :rotfl:

    :T £2 savers - £6 30/4/06 :T
    :T 20p savers -£0.60 30/4/06 :T
  • Hi, I wonder if anyone can help.
It will be 40 days on Sunday since we requested our 6 years of statements from the Halifax. So far we have only received 2 years worth (approx 10 days ago). Is there a number we can call to jog them along or what is the next step?
    Many thanks

The 2nd letter that I sent them DID give them 14 days with no mention of court. It was from the template on this site.

The response I received is above. The 14 days expires on 31st January, so do I :

    a) Ignore this letter and wait for their response
    b) Ignore this letter and submit court proceedings on the 31st January
    c) Send another letter with charges outlined stating that they need to reply by 31st January?

Not sure what you mean by 3rd letter and that I should be giving them 3 weeks??

1st letter asked for all details of all charges with £10 - they sent all statements.
2nd letter listed the statements and asked for a refund. No mention of court.
