halifax bank charges (merged)

@davideds - I shouldnt think you would have had your account frozen at this stage. The freeze is most likely to be due to something else, maybe you've accidentally used the incorrect username/password to login to online banking, in which case they will freeze online aaccess till you contact them (this has happened to me before, and I had to go into the branch with id, and reset my security info).
If you're planning to go ahead with a claim, it is ALWAYS advised to open up a seperate ('parachute') account, just in case they do close your account, although this isn't that common with Halifax from what I have read.0 -
cool cheers!!
I also have a loan with halifax. would this be affected in any way? I have kept up with the payments to them.0 -
HOORAY
After 3 weeks i have recieved a letter stating they will pay me the full charges back just minus the intrest as a "goodwill gesture" Of course i agreed as only £81 and willing to pay me £74 and anything is better than nothing.

Hi all. I have claimed just over £1800 in all off the Halifax.
This is a brief summary so far.
- Asked for 6 years of statements. Got them within a week. 220 pages. 45 envelopes held together by elastic band. Cost £5.
- Handed letter claiming all charges back at local branch. Thought this would save time and got acknowledgement of letter off them. (I ensured I was polite. I feel this is very important! )
- They forwarded it on to Customer Relations in Leeds.
- 3 days later, letter of C/Rels, Leeds. Standard kind of letter saying they'll look into it... etc.
- NEXT STEPS. Await their reply. If nothing with 14 days of my letter then follow our procedure. I am determined to get all they owe me back, so will ensure they know that I know my rights. They can pay 100% of what they owe now. Or, 100% plus another £300 interest when it goes to court. I will make sure that when I speak over the phone once the haggling process inevitably starts that I remain courteous and professional. We are all human beings and the Halifax staff are not our enemies.
** OBSERVATION ** The banks are deliberately trying to hook us into their own 'Complaints Procedure' as they cannot / will not officially recognise this one as they can't / won't admit guilt, even though they know the score. The reasons for this.......
They would much rather have a few thousand of us pushing them, than seeing the flood gates open if a precedent were set. TO THE BANK, THIS MEANS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN REFUNDING MILLIONS (LIKE THEY ARE NOW) AND BILLIONS (AS THEY WOULD IF EVERY ONE HAD TO BE LEGALLY REFUNDED).
** ALSO - In my opinion, they are picking as many of us off as possible through clever tactics of intimidation and bullying in order to further minimise their damage!!
KNOW OUR RIGHTS..... PUSH FOR OUR RIGHTS....

Have you had any reply from Halifax? If they have replied and said no, you need to then apply to either your nearest court or if applying online you put in the name of your nearest court or take that part out of the letter altogether and the court system will allocate the court nearest to you.0 -
how much are you claiming then?:A Tomorrow's just another day - keep smiling0

i'm slightly confused now. letter 4? I though there were only 3?:
letter 1-requesting statements
letter 2-asking for refund and giving 14 days to respond
letter 3-giving a further 7b day and threatening court action
Stage 4 - filing claim with online court0 -
Just had a call from the Halifax offering £92 out of the £182 I'm claiming. I said no to this. They came back with the full £182 but wont pay the £30 court costs, which I have already paid. She said they will send an offer letter out. Now do I accept the £182 or do I hold out & see them in court where the court costs and interest will be added.0
