 grrrrr so far have tried 01977 627313 and 01977 627422 and either just rings and rings or after about 5 rings it gets hung up the other end. funny that. Also getting nowhere on the 0845 number, just kept on hold.
I tried all morning on the first number, just about to give up and found the 627422 number and got through... sucess keep trying

  • Hi, first time i've used a forum, so please be patient.
i have followed the first three steps to reclaim my bank charges from the Halifax. the last letter i sent included asking for a reply in 14 days. i sent a copy to customer services and also a copy to my branch. as i havn't heard anything fof three weeks i intend to go down the court route. Now do i claim for the full amount and intrerest upto when i registar the claim or should i only claim the amount upto (and as requested) in the original letters to the Halifax. any advice would be great. thanks

    Hello there,

I have receive a reply from Halifax Bank when i sent them the second letter and they are saying that the charges they've charge on my account are correctly applied.

These are the wordings from their letter.
    YOUR BANK CHARGES

Thank you for your recent complaint. I am sorry you are unhappy about the charges which have been applied to your account.

    OUR INVESTIGATION

I have carried out an investigation of your complaint and I am satisfied that the charges have been correctly applied to your account. This letter explains the reasons behind my decision.

    WHY YOU HAVE BEEN CHARGE

When you opened your account, you agreed to our terms and condition which explained that charges would be applied if you did not keep to the terms of the account. From time to time, we have also sent you sent you information about the current level of charges. This information formed part of your agreement with us and we have applied them strictly according to the terms agreed.

We apply these charges because when customers have insufficient funds in their account to cover payment they have asked us to make, this means additional work for us. As a result, we feel it reasonable to charge for this service.

    OUTCOME

I am sorry to advice you I am declining your complaint. I hope I have explained the reasons for my decision.
What should i do next? Please help!

Many thanks in advance and more power to moneysavingexpert cheers!

Hi, i have been trying to claim for what seems ages now, got my statements through and then sent off the first letter. Got the normal reply back saying that they are looking into the claim.

Then i got a letter back saying that the charges are justified, i know yet another fob off. The problem is that it is my husbands account and he isnt keen on phoning them so i sent off the last letter saying that i wasnt happy with the outcome of the investigation and another copy of the bank charges.

If i get a letter back offering me some of the charges back will i have to phone them or can i write back to them? My husband will speak to them if there is a possibility of getting more than 50% back but is still reluctant in doing so, im going to have to coach im i think!

Well done everyone who has got their charges back!
    Love is all around! :rotfl:

still having some problem as yesterday, no-one answering the telephone on either of the two 01977 numbers I have. Does anyone else have a different number I can try. I am getting desperate now, as far as I am concerned their 8 week period is up today and I have had enough of them stalling.

    Any information much appreciated.
