I requested my statements o ver two months ago but still no sign. Any idea the best number to get them sent out? The normal bank account line are useless.

pop in to your local branch and see if they can help. Ask for a list of all you your charges. thats what i did and they were more than helpful and the list was emailed through while I waited. Failing that, just keep ringing them on the 08457 number.

Hope this helps and good luck

I am also waiting to hear back from Halifax despite writing to them. I wrote firstly to ask for bank statements and received a letter just within the time to tell me that they had received my letter and due to high demand for similar requests would be in touch shortly but most likely take a couple of weeks. That was 8 weeks ago and have written back since but no reply. What to do next i dont know????

I agree with tjclilac above... go into the branch... I did this with my best friend and they were so apologetic and embarrassed. They even wrote a complaint letter on her behalf to sign... she got the statements within the next 5 days.

:T Just got off the phone to Tony. We renegotiated the original offer from £544 up to £950. Original claim was for £1138, they knocked off a couple as they said they were out of the six year period. He asked me how much I wanted and I said the full amount. He then rattled on about the banking conditions etc., etc., he then asked if I would accept £750 I said no, he asked what figure I wanted I said £950 and he said fine. letter will be coming out today confirming and the money should be in my account within 14 days. :j I am more than happy with this and its only £150 less so they can have that for all the charges over the years!

1 down, 1 to go :rotfl:

  • I've got to the Court stage and have been offered a settlement from Halifax of less than 50% of my original cliam (with interest).

As this has been going on for ages, should i accept or is my chance of getting the lot high enough to proceed further.

After reading various comments from this forum, should I now phone the number at the top of my form and inform Halifax that the offer is unacceptable.

Also they've said they are paying the money into my account within the next 14 days, and I've not even accepted the offer yet!!

    Any advice????

Yea,tell them it`s unacceptable and you`ll see them in court.
I`ve known cases to be settled on the steps up to the courtroom on the day of the hearing.
Stick to your guns and watch them fold.
  • Has Anyone successfully won against Halifax and did they use the same tactics with you?

The done thing seems to be to phone them up and negotiate a higher amount. Most seem to be saying they are getting the full amount less interest with a bit of haggling.

A few have also noted that the original amount offered will be paid into your bank account first, any more on top of that that you have negotiated is paid in later on.
  • Has anyone had a settlement offer from Halifax and what did you do?

I've had an offer of 50% less than my original claim.

Any experiences would be good in helping me decide what to do next
